My boomer parents just told me they have ordered and now gotten a new edition sportscar.

Let me be clear: I am not in any way, shape or form jealous nor do I expect a penny of inheritance.

The problem at hand is how two pensioners are going to pay for and upkeep the poor machine that will never see use of its last gear.
Insurance alone seems far off for their current lifestyle, and it's not only their finances I am worried about.

They haven't showed interest in cars, old man can't change a tyre, their parking space is barely big enough to not scratch up their current 5-seat car that is also fairly new (less than 5 years) and there is a high probability of either them driving it off the road or someone stealing it+++

I told them this exact thing, but they call me a grumpy jelaus sh*t like the boomers they are. I just can't be happy for them knowing this is exceptionally stupid and irresponsible.
Said they can blow their money in the Las Vegas wind and I wouldn't be the least fizzled about it.

Do I congratulate them and buy them gold chains so as to patronize them? Am I in the wrong here and should I let things just happen as fate intended?
Am I selfish for trying to avoid second hand trauma because of this?

Grim. You shouldn't humor these assholes. Have kids and never let them see the kids. That is the best revenge.

Just tell them that when they get older, and expect you to take care of them and clean their ass, you won't be there for them. Tell them, you'll put them in a fucking asylum full of jeets that will beat them and abuse them constantly, if not, they will medicate them with sleep meds and they will sleep 16h a day till they fucking die. Tell them that.

The very reason they're being hedonistic now.

You told them that before they got hedonistic? How is your relationship with them?

As in I don't wait for it nor take it into account at all.
My life revolves around being a better person than what I've seen from those around me. I don't want to "stick it to them" I just want them to comprehend the scale of their teenagerisque actions.

Likely not going to have kids because I don't want to give them the same predisposition as mine. I, myself work minimum wage after dropping out of college.

My father did the same thing a few years ago, but now he is at the stage where the money really is running out, his health is declining, and he is a lonely alcoholic with 2 failed marriages. He had to sell the car for cash. He is now trying to pick up girls in AA and calling me weekly to gloat about his past.

Not sure what to do. On one hand, I want to be supportive as literally everyone else has cut him off. On the other hand, I saw this all coming and my own mental health is being weighed down dealing with this. Its a ticking timebomb and I don't believe he will change or can look after himself. He is just burning money in a constant relapsing alcoholic depression. Last I spoke to him he was wanting to tell me stories of his expliots at a whore house. I have a kid on the way and just got married...

He said he doesnt mind telling me these things as I am fucked up like him too (I am mentally ill retard but I am trying to be a better person). Part of that means being a supportive son though. I can see he is positioning to move close to me when he runs out of money though.

What do?

If hijacking my thread at least write that it's not me/OP.

My opinion: tell him you left the kid and would like to drink and go to whore houses yourself because you look up to him. No contact after that.

Take an insurance policy for when their reaction time fails them

So much so that there wasn't even the need for you to make the "Thread Complaining About Boomers #73589630"
> I just want them to comprehend the scale of their teenagerisque actions.
Why do you even care? Don't you have anything else more interesting to do?
What's the point of ruminating about all the possible bad things that can happen?

You are kind of right, but I do care about them. As stated, I don't care about them leaving me anything. Never did.
But it would be horrendous for me if something was to happen to them. They aren't bad people.
