My brother in law owes me $800 and was supposed to pay me back just under 9 months ago, and he said he’d do it no longer than a month He recently got a job too so he could do it, my fiancée keeps telling me to let it go, and he will “get back to me” but to me it’s the principal. Also, he said it was for major important car repairs but I’m pretty sure this dude used the money to just do up his car and some stuff for his engine, stuff that wasn’t an emergencyI’ve asked him last week over txt and he just pretends I didn’t send it. Do I let this go? I’m actually pretty pissed and how my girl is so casual about it, it’s not even a small amount of moneyAnyway to even retrieve this amount without begging?
>>34574236You probably don't have much legal recourse if you didn't agree any specific repayment terms with him.In some countries, a verbal IOU can be legally actionable, but it requires very strong evidence and I think most solicitors would baulk at undertaking this given the relatively small amount of money and the direct family connection. The thing which would piss me off more than the money in your position is>my fiancée keeps telling me to let it goThis reflects very badly on her values and parentage. One kid steals the money, then the sibling makes excuses.Prepare for more of this once yours and her finances are joined, is all I'm saying.
>>34574261You having fun?
>>34574271Verily, my mind has been opened.Thank you, O Great Font of Knowledge.
Baseball bat to the knees. Your in law is a scumbag.
>>34574236You aren't getting it back. You need to accept that and just not lend him money in the future.
>>34574236move on retard. That money is spent and gone... You'll never see a cent of it again.
