im a white guy and notice white women in their 20s specificlly seem to either sneer at me or refuse to make eye contact. If I'm outside taking a walk women will literally cross the street, which I can pretty much guarantee they would not do if I was black because then they would be "racist" despite a black guy being much more likely to assault them or whatever it is they potentially fear. could this be something about my appearance (besides white skin)?
It could be down to how you dress and your body language.It could also just be the fact that you're a man. Some young women get pretty nervous when they notice me walking the same path as them at a park because they're worried I'm following them.

I don't make eye contact with women in public anymore. Wear a cap and go around them if they're in your way, pretend they don't exist. Service jobs are different because they are obligated to make eye contact and it's frankly rude even for the customer to rebuff that so it's still fine in that context.
