I inherited a lot of money through a trust, and it's made the last 4 years of my life miserable.

Everyone hates you, constantly watching over your shoulder, unable to do ordinary things, can't use or sell assets normally, tax problems with working a normal job. Everyone hating you.

4 years ago I was sleeping on a friend's couch, I'd been broke all my life, this isn't some senators son story a whole bunch of my relatives died horrible deaths at the same time leaving me without even extended family, and the combined assets of like 16 middle class Americans. Random houses, furniture, cars, no businesses or commercial assets. Some shares but none that are earning any dividends.

Have you tried lying? Like, can't you just move to one of your houses, say you inherited it, and then not ever ever tell anyone else about the rest of the inheritance?

The ugly deaths, ugly lives of these people, 8 years of legal action, unfortunately I'm widely regarded as having stolen the combined assets of my entire extended family.

And I tried to move overseas but had nothing to do there, didn't know anyone, hated it. So I'm just back on the couch.

I didn't even buy new clothes, get my fillings, I don't have a doctor and still eat instant noodles and smoke counterfeit tobacco. My quality of life has genuinely not improved.

I put the houses up for rental and just gave the money to the red Cross for tax reasons, but they fucking hastled me every day for more money and they got really evil so now the houses are just vacant and I'm paying land tax on 6 houses for no reason, but it beats inflation.

I don't have to pretend to be poor, I'm visibly poor and rich people don't want anything to do with me but to try to buy them drugs, and I don't even do drugs.
I just bought three kilos of home brand frozen veg and instant noodles, that's my plan for the week.

And I can't work, because of how tax works I'd lose more working then I already pay in land tax. So I tried volenteering but they treated me like a disabled criminal even though I was working every day for free to help homeless people and shit.

I'm asking you why you do not move to a place where no one knows you or anything about your situation. Then you wouldn't have most of these problems

there may be certain circumstantial peculiarities to your situation, but you're not asking for /adv/ on how to deal with them, are you? Otherwise you'd be asking for solutions.

Because the truth is that coming into money only amplifies what you already are. Figure out what you want, that would probably be an appropriate consideration to orient yourself with.

I've inherited an empire overnight and I couldn't be happier
you're just humble bragging because the vast majority of 4chan is made of low class firsties

I moved overseas for a year, had nothing to do, didn't know anyone. Girls weren't exactly jumping in my arms, one night sometime pulled a knife on someone else and I just thought.. why am I even here? It's rather be back home playing skyrim, so I just flew home the next day.

It's not like I have problems, I wouldn't put it like that. More like limitations. The money which you'd think opened every door in the world just revealed other doors.

I'm still ugly, broken teeth, torn, literally torn clothes. Can't drive, no gf, no education and too dumb to study, no business skills, no investment skills, no friends. I lack everything a trust fund baby would typically garner along the way.

>>34576951
Again, not really problems. More like limitations. And I swear nothing was amplified, I spent 4 years on a sofa playing skyrim happy, then my entire family died, and now I spent 4 years on the same couch, miserable, and the elder scrolls V never came out.

Get an accountant. You probably can sell shit so you can have cash and be a neet.
>>
>>34577007
I'm generally aware of humble bragging, related concepts. Plays into the general theme of people hating you for no reason, not recognising that someone who's entire family died probably has legitimate issues, or that there are many problems related to having money, which though by far preferable to having no money, are still also legitimate problems.

Today I got a flat tire and carried my bike and groceries home two miles in the rain. How do you look at that? Was it stupid for not just spending $40 on a cab to buy $10 of instant noodles. Do the poor walk 4 miles uphill both ways? It's just projection, anyone can suffer a flat tire, anyone can get rained on.

The whole part of this that is bizarre is that the trust was designed to evade tax, it wasn't an estate. So many people dying out divorcing in the opposite order then was expected the trust sucked up the assets of 16 people with no lawful beneficiary but myself, as I'm the sole surviving grandson of an old lady everyone expected to die 30 years ago.

So while the trust holds the assets, i pay no tax. But i have to pay something like 40% of their value if i sell any, which 35 different angry people would then sue me over. So I basically have to rent these assets out in perpetuity without selling them, and so yes, the trust will, and already has enough to pay me minimum wage for the rest of my life for doing nothing.

And 8 years ago, you know i would have been happy with that. But the death of my entire family, my current situation, I'm not happy with that even slightly. It's awful.

Taking you at your word, then you have to examine whats different about what you've just laid out?

Your family is dead. Were you close to any of them? If this thread is to be believed, it seems like you've said the ones that died had ugly lives, and the ones that remain are no friends of yours.

So is it that you can only enjoy one video game with any degree of certainty? That seems a stretch that nothing at all since Skyrim is enjoyable.

So the reality is something is change in you more than just the money, because the money just makes it easier to maintain the state you were previously in.

Spill it, you're the one who came here, whats the point of holding back? Fill in the gaps you're leaving out.

i do accounting work & financial management & have dealt w trusts.
>Random houses, furniture, cars
first off unless they’re appreciating collectors cars, you should sell them for cash. keep the most reliable one if u need it. the longer you hold the more value is lost, taxes will be paid regardless.
if the houses are fully furnished, and you have the time to do it yourself or the money to hire someone to do it for you, rent the houses out. or u can do a combination of rent & sell after getting appraisal/roi/tax obligation/time investment for each option for each house.
stocks are lower priority, but if they aren’t beating the s&p 500 over the past 3 years i’d recommend liquidation & reassessment of your financial strategy.
as far as the social aspect, i wouldn’t consider u a ‘trust fund baby’. u are an adult who underwent a series of tragedies resulting in an inherentance & no family. this is so far removed from being a ‘lucky break’ the way a trust fund is, that if someone calls u this after hearing ur story they’re a complete jackass who worships money.

>Was it stupid for not just spending $40 on a cab to buy $10 of instant noodles.
A non-stupid person who can afford it gets their groceries delivered. I don't know about US prices, but here in the UK so long as you're buying at least £40 worth of stuff it's only fractionally more expensive than going to the store.

Sue you for what, exactly?

What is this, AI? Half i barely knew, but half were my immediate family.
>>34577244
These are things I've just never gotten used to. I should, there's no reason not to.

Who knows, they have no grounds to sue but keep getting baited into it by private lawyers

what advice do you seek?

>my relatives died horrible deaths at the same time leaving me without even extended family
I am truly sorry for what you have been through. I wish you did not have to endure such hardship. Losing your family must leave an immense sense of loneliness, and no amount of money can ever replace the people you loved or make up for such a profound loss.

>combined assets of like 16 middle class Americans. Random houses, furniture, cars, no businesses or commercial assets. Some shares but none that are earning any dividends.
>it's made the last 4 years of my life miserable.
Can you not sell everything and invest it?

I am interpreting your situation as follows: what made your life miserable was trying to manage inherited houses, cars, furniture, and other assets that generate no income and only create expenses through taxes and maintenance.

You should sell everything and invest the proceeds in an index fund. Then buy a nice, isolated house, stock up on food, firearms, and ammunition, and live comfortably. Do not try to be adventurous by investing in businesses or ventures you have no experience with.
>>
>>34576939
>I don't have a doctor and still eat instant noodles and smoke counterfeit tobacco
You are slowly killing yourself. You should maximize your health.

>What is this, AI? Half i barely knew, but half were my immediate family.

no, but curious why you think so, as am super hostile to using AI to generate such things...

and your answer really didn't respond to all the points brought about, so its kinda hard to formulate a useful reply. Doesn't feel like you're taking this seriously and are more here to vent.
>>
>>34578135
NTA, but it's probably the poor spacing and the fact you say a lot of things without meaning anything. AI texts are usually lengthy and a nothing burger devoid of any content.
>>
>>34576883
dividends fucking suck because they get taxed as income unless you re-invest them instantly.
>>
>>34578750
>the fact you say a lot of things without meaning anything.

ahh. you aren't taking this seriously. well, best of luck.
