I'm very motivated by spite, which I want to deliberately utilize for self-improvement. I don't get into many interpersonal conflicts though, so I'm stuck on where to get a rival / nemesis / archenemy.

Years back, I noticed that after breakups I would cope by trying to match or be better than ex eg. getting the same certifications, going to a slightly better college, being a slightly better climber. Similar thing with crappy roommates, I would be tidier or cook nicer food just to be better than them.

Average-ish 24 yr old. Kinda depressed, mechanical engineering student, mediocre rock climber, have a dog and a long term bf. Life is objectively fine, I just have endogenous depression that the pills don't do much for, and mild hereditary adhd. Target areas of motivational improvement would be academics, hygiene, exercise, socializing, networking.

Sometimes people find a character or media-person to emulate, to use as a role model. I don't think being a fan is as powerful as being a hater though.

This is hilarious, and surprised that I kinda agree.

If you're a student, then the best place is to antagonize TAs, or get close to faculty, see how people tick, and then try to one up them.
Or, get into courses/electives doing group projects with complete retards, and god the spite that will remain from that even after will sustain you for a whiiiiile.

Are you gay?

No, I'm straight

Thank you, those are good ideas. All my current classes have group projects so I can probably implement that. By the end of the engineering program everyone left standing is at least semi-competent, but I can still find enough idiocy to cultivate spite against.

>No, I'm straight
Then you're a woman? I don't understand why a woman would need to self improve. The whole point of self improvement is to get pussy.

I'm jealous, here doing a physics program even 3 years in you get pitted with some true idiots

The best nemesis you can face is your past, current and future self. You will naturally understand this by the time you will hit your early 30s.

>wake up
>look in the mirror
>the guy in there ever so slightly delays his actions trying to be like me
If I'm faster, stronger and prettier there's nothing he can do
