Any advice?
>>
>>34580881
Don't. Assuming this would be your first published novel, better to make time around your workday to write.
>>
>>34580881
There are 2 phases in writing:

1. The unstructure stream of conscousness phase
2. The editing phase

and they are separate
>>
Use Qwen AND DeepSeek

You can use both. Don't be fooled that you must use only one. But avoid google.

>I’m quitting my full time job to become a novelist
>Any advice?
Only quit your work if your main source of income already comes from your novels. Unless you are willing to be a homeless novelist.
>>
we're in a post literate world, buddy

even 10 years ago you could still look at hunger games or davinci code or fifty shades of grey and go "well there's at least a couple huge books a year, i could hope to write one of those"

that's all completely dead now. there's no "big book" you can point to from any of the 2020s. don't do this
>>
>>34581888
>that's all completely dead now
What a fucking lie, the book industry is bigger than the music industry and the movie industry together! I read books all the time, just because you're illiterate doesn't mean we all are.
>>
>>34581901
>doesn't actually name a single big 2020s book
>>
>>34581908
Are you having trouble following your own conversation? The claim was that the book industry is dead. The counterclaim was that the industry is enormous and that people still read books. Your response is 'name a single big 2020s book.' That's not a rebuttal. That's a completely different argument.
>>
You should at least work part time
>>
>>34580881
Not a novelist, but my advice is simple: don't quit the job, before you make it your gig somehow sustainable.

>That's not a rebuttal. That's a completely different argument.
You're not just venting about the incorrect claim this anon made -- you are elevating the discourse way over this dumdum's head. Do you want to frame this as a board post, a Reddit thread, or even a conference paper? Just say the word.

I’ll be moving in with my parents but also doing >>34583693

I’ll keep that in mind

Fuck you, I’m not using AI at all in my writing
>>
how many books do you read per month? overall?
>novelist
do you have talent?
do you have lots of spare time on your hands?
these 2 questions a no?
then leave it be.
but if you have time; then re learn how to read and re learn how to write and start to develop your own writing style and hope it ends up well and people like your style/its easy on the eyes and mind (not what you think i mean but differently).
lots of time will pass before you should even consider making one single cent off of it.
also not many people nowadays are reading literature at all or for the funs of it. they see reading as a tool to gain x info or y knowledge to further do z thing. and why even, when we re in full ai timeline. people just ask ai to give them a qrd on anything really.
also depends on what language you are going to write in. time to read really old books from the 17th, 18th and early 19th century. big vocabulary is important.
>>
>>34580881
Don't quit your job. Write on weekends.
>>34583949
>not using AI at all in my writing
Ok. Pay an editor then.
>>
>>34580881
How many contracts or leads do you have? None? Then don‘t
>>
>>34580881
Are you the Rusky anon?
>>
>>34580881
Dear OP. People are retarded when it comes to advice, me included, abd they will derail the conversation around their semantics.
Here's the deal, the World is in recession, your sole purpose as a human being is to amass wealth and diversify the source of the wealth in a manner that you no longer have to bother working to amass the wealth and the well digs itself.
Don't leave your job, earn your money, enjoy your life, write your novel on the side with all the intensity and energy.
Look at the job market, the entry level rising, the people mass laid off. They would beg to be in your position.
Write your novel while working, many successful artists have done that, so can you.

>People are retarded when it comes to advice
Not all people. What you said is true, and it's how I feel as well. I think that people said the same stuff you said with different words >>34581862
>>34583812
The job market is crap rn, I wanted to quit my work too, but I can't.
>>
>>34580881
Not how that works op. You should do try.
