Basically I have a cat that we got at 1.5years, she came from a shelter. We've had her for abt 9 years. A friend had to give away his cat and she's 5 yrs old, but she lived with another cat.I'm thinking since my cat's been in a shelter she'll be okay with the new cat, but she's also super territorial when it comes to outside cats coming on our property. Right now I have the new cat setup in a room and I'm gonna try slowly introducing their scents to each other. Stuff like brushing one cat and letting the other smell the brush. Is there anything I should know or any tips you guys have?
>>34583489Let them live primarily in different parts of the house (e.g. one upstairs and one downstairs) so they can avoid each other voluntarily if they want to. Have food, water, litter tray, etc. in both places.
>>34583513how long do you think I should wait before I let them meet face to face?

pin the dominant cat nose down haunches in the air so the submissive cat can come up and sniff it's asshole. even the meanest shithead cat will be able to eat some humble pie after something like that
>>34583685Oh, let them meet almost right away. The trick is not to force them to be apart, but to *allow* them to be apart if they want to be. Give them long enough to get comfortable in whichever part of the house they're in - a week or so, maybe. Then let them meet and see what happens.
