Im androgyneous and non binary and recently got my girlfriend of 2.5 years (and soon to be wife) pregnant. We are expecting a son. Earlier today my best friend walked up to me and casually asked "hey so if youre gonna have a son and youre non binary what is he gonna call you like parent? He cant call you daddy or mommy"
I had no fucking clue what to respond to him. What am I meant to say? Should I just let my kid pick what he's gonna call me and not pay mind? Im already taking on a fatherly role anyway and im not the type who gets pissy over literal kids so I think the most mature decision would be jusr "dad" yk. It cant just be parent

Be his father anon. He deserves a daddy
>>
>>34597195
It’s extremely that there’s no name for a nonbinary parent. (Because these eternal children narcissists can’t be fucked to reproduce enough for it to ever be an issue) good bait op
>>

Exactly. I dont think kids are mature enough to understand the emotional dissonance I personally feel between both the ideas of masculinity and femininity and personal style choices and yada yada yada. Maybe when he's like 16 or something I would bother explaining it but I already decided to be his dad and I have been banking for most of the stuff relating to him (crib, room, medical expenses and so on)

I don't see why it matters, I thought the whole point of being nonbinary is that you don't think worrying about traditional gender roles and expression is important so then why worry about it. Your son calling you dad changes nothing about what you are and all the other options are going to be annoying and complicated, for your son too cause he is going to have to explain to his classmates and friends and bullies why he doesn't have a dad but a whatever the fuck you're going to call it.
>>

Just be an androgynous male. Not bait but OP can you explain to me this whole nonbinary thing and why you do it? There were plenty of androgynous or even feminine men who were loved throughout history (prince,. hair metal musicians, bowie, etc). Why not just be a guy but not focus on gender? You don't have to be some manly lumberjack whatever the fuck to be a guy.

>>34597248
This.
>>
>>34597195
You are fucking retarded
Tell him to call you retard
>>
>>34597195
There's no such thing as "non-binary" and the concept itself is inherently sexist and homophobic. You're a male, so he should call you father.
>>
>>34597248
Exactly what im going for, just "dad" is way simpler for him
>>34597252
Aesthetic principle mostly. I enjoy having most parts of my life be dettached from gender and im not particularly worried about feminine or masculine roles, its why I wouldnt particularly mind just being called dad as its mostly a style thing
>>
>>34597195
Biologically speaking, you are the kid's father. For the child to refer to you as his father is therefore accurate, at least from some points of view.
>>
>>34597195
>I had no fucking clue what to respond to him.
"it"
Not mommy, not daddy but "it".
>>

>Aesthetic principle mostly
Then every time you call yourself non-binary, you're also implicitly arguing that men are not allowed to look the way you want to look. The way to defy gender roles is to actually defy them, as in calling yourself a man and having long hair or whatever without shame. The moment you call yourself something other than a man because you're doing something that society says isn't masculine, you're kowtowing to gender roles and reinforcing them. Non-binary identities are self sabotage, inherently.
>>
Stop larping. "Non-binary" is a completely meaningless term. You are a man. Your children should call you dad.
