You put the things in their proper place, like clothes in a laundry hamper. You don't own drawers or a laundry bin or whatever, you go and buy the appropriate storage item

I do the “touch rule.” When I clean my room if I touch it or pick it up something MUST be done with it. It’s technically inefficient but messes aren’t created in an orderly way either
