I have literally never had an episode of hypomania in my life. I've been horribly depressed, and had some periods where I felt way better, but nothing crazy where I felt like I had to spend a shit ton of my money or something.

How the fuck do I go about either getting a correct diagnosis or scrubbing that shit altogether?

I met a diagnosed bipolar person before who always swore they were just hyperactive. I read later that there's some kind of side-condition called anosognosia that means most bipolar peoples struggle to accept the diagnosis and desperately try looking for other explanations that usually make less sense

I recognize when something is wrong with me all the time. I know I'm fucked up in the head to some degree. I just don't know if I may specifically have bipolar.

Maybe you can request the notes from your diagnosis. Typically they make you take at least one test or eval prior to diagnosis. It should show if you do have some signs of mania you might not be aware of

If you have never had a manic or hypomanic episode, then you aren't bipolar. It's as simple as that. You just have ordinary boring depression.

I have no idea who even diagnosed me with this shit.

Is it possible my hypomania might've been 'dulled'? I have depressive episodes and then I'll feel much better but not to the point where I exhibit mania or hypomania. I'll hyperfocus on somethings but then that's because I have ADHD, which I don't think I can really question.

>Is it possible
Nope. The defining characteristic of bipolar is that the mechanisms that regulate the production of mood hormones aren't functioning, so you just careen back and forth like a car with a broken steering rack. You're only careening back, so you must have something else that is broken.
