Why are you expected to stop having sexual thoughts once you graduate high school? I keep reading comments about how people don't think like that because "they're not (insert any age under 20) anymore". Do normal people just lose all interest in sex at that point?

The sexual thoughts don't disappear and often the enjoyment of actual sex increases. It is just the associating everything with sex, finding everything vaguely related to sex funny or scandalous, loving to brag about your sexual side etc that most people leave behind after puberty or a little later. The thirst, basically, not the actual libido.
