My ex definitely hated it, but then she would waste hours every night in front of some dumb ass netflix show. It drove me crazy. If she wanted to go out and do something, or perhaps have sex with me, I wouldn't spend a second playing the stupid video games. They are there for when I'm bored out of my mind. I'm not willing to sit braindead in front of a tv like some boomer.

There is still this attitude that video games are for children and only losers play them as adults. I don't know if that will ever go away even though pretty much every guy under 40 has been playing video games since childhood. At the same time boomers will sit in front of the tv watching football for 4 hours a night and that's apparently ok and totally masculine. Just an example of how everyone is full of shit.

Video games get a bad reputation because guys really into them will often/easily spend more time on them than they would spend doing other solo hobbies. Some guys also get aggravated when gaming despite enjoying it, or the sounds from the game or talking with other gamers can be distracting and draining compared to a hobby done silently (like reading).

That said your girlfriend sounds extreme and that is just on her. You are allowed to point out that you don't game excessively and her having an attitude when you go do it, takes some of the fun out it for you. You can get away with saying a lot more if you can do it at a moment and in a way where you are genuinely very calm in your tone, not accusative, just sharing it with her like you are operating on the assumption that if she understood what it's like from your side, she would realize it was an issue and want to work it out with you. That gives the best chance at a constructive response where the other person hears you out instead of reverting to being defensive for being criticized.

A lot of women still live in this idea that video games are for little babies.
