>Raised in an abusive christian household and left my faith years ago after a lot of research and prayer
>Sister stayed in household and kept her faith. Though, she's toned down the abuse and I understand completely why it works for her. (I even support it.)
>Little nephew is growing up. We've always been close, and always had a blast hanging out and playing games. He looks up to me as an adult
>Recently we were sitting building legos together and he suddenly stops. Out of nowhere he asks, "Uncle... Are you a Christian? Like, do you believe in god?"
I didn't answer him. The answer is that I don't. But I also don't want to shock him, and I don't want to sway his personal convictions. I also don't want my sister to get freaked out and not let me hang out with him anymore.

What do I say next time this comes up? Also, does this mean that they've probably talked about me and my faith when I wasn't around?

It doesn't mean they've talked about your faith, it is a pretty common question for older kids to have

Tell him to think about it when he grows up. Don't let it get in the way of playing games with him.

Ask him "Is that important? And if so, why is it important?" If absolutely necessary, quote Matthew 25:31-46 - the gist being that on the Day of Judgment, good people will be allowed into Heaven even if they aren't Christians.
