25yo UK NEET of 10 years here. By some miracle, I’ve landed a job interview for a supermarket retail assistant role.I’ve been a shut-in for the past decade, and my social skills are far from great. I really can't afford to fuck this up, I can’t bear the thought of still living like this into my 30s.I struggle to think on the spot, but I’ve got two weeks to prepare. What kind of questions are likely to come up in the interview, and how should I prepare for them? Thanks.
Their questions will be about what you would do in hypothetical situations. The best thing to do is be honest about your struggles and say you are open to training and new experiences. That should be appealing to them. They will like the idea of being able to mold you to their standards, rather than constantly battle you to get you out of bed habits from a previous job.Best of luck.
>>34605170>Their questions will be about what you would do in hypothetical situations.Yeah, this. If you possibly can, mention an actual example of dealing with a situation like that you've encountered. >>34605150>What kind of questions are likely to come up in the interview, and how should I prepare for them? Also, try and think of some intelligent questions to ask *them*. In general, you should regard an interview as an opportunity to decide if you actually want the job. But also it gives you a chance to suggest a few qualities about yourself that haven't otherwise come up. For example, asking about what kind of experience the job will offer and whether they like to promote internally, will suggest that you're ambitious and not the kind of person who does the bare minimum. It's also good to *subtly* imply that you're not desperate and you have options - making it clear that you are deciding if you want the job or not by asking them questions makes it seem like you're in demand.
i worked at Tesco when i was still at college, i did stock control which is a fancy way of saying i walked around the warehouse looking for things to see if they were in stock and i would 150% have been replaced by the first LLM off the press but it was a comfy job and i could hide in the dairy chiller during a heatwave. ANYWAY anon the interview will be ascertaining the following:>can you show up to an appointment on time>can this guy string a sentence together>does he smell like 9am in spoons>does he have functional limbs Tesco/Asda etc arent going to start asking you for a six month plan. Dress nice (ignore faggots who tell you not to dress up for interviews, it shows you're taking it seriously even if its just a supermarket job), shake hands make eye contact, all the usual stuff. As a shop assistant you are going to be customer facing so 95% of this interview is going to be making sure you are actually presentable enough to represent whatever megacorp you're at. As for questions it'll be the usual:>what do you consider to be your strengths/weaknessesmake something up that wouldn’t effect your shopkeeping. I tell them i get impatient with slow processes especially if i have a customer waiting>when was the last time you worked in a teamif you have an example, use it. if not - lie. Say you had a group project at school and you were in charge of it, say you like doing escape rooms, if it comes to it say you were in a clan/gaming team (but leave that as a last resort)this anon >>34605284 also makes a solid point, ask them questions. Ask what the culture is like, ask about progression, ask if they do any team building stuff. Don't ask about the money during this period. Good luck!
