You should've learned Russian because that's what they speak anyway, and you would've significantly expanded your options as well.

Very rarely do I hear them speak anything but Russian, either to each other or to their boss, who's called Ionascu. One Ukrainian even complained to me that Moldovans act like animals, and Czechs then bitch about Ukrainians, because they can't tell them apart.
