how can I get jacked and be good at fighting without ruining my knees? it seems athletes are always ruining their knees, and the ones who aren't ruining their knees are getting brain damage head trauma
>>34620935>wants all the benefits>wants none of the issues that come with it
>>34620990yeah, like I want a working water system without lead poisoning, or I want a fireplace without my home filling up with smoke
>>34620995>yeah, like I want a working water system without lead poisoning, or I want a fireplace without my home filling up with smokeunfortunately something’s are a give and take relationship, this reply just shows how naive you currently are.
>>34621060what are some things you can only achieve at if you're naive?
>>34620935I understand the reasoning, but unfortunately I guess it really is a matter of understanding what you want and how far you are willing to go and risk things. If you want to run fast, you gotta practice running, and if you do, you will inevitably put a lotta strain on your legs and knees. Same for lower body strength exercises. If you want to learn how to fight, depending on the type of martial art you're aiming for, you'll likely receive a few hits, sometimes on the head, and that's always risky.I guess what one can do is>try to mitigate the risks as best as they can by using appropriate protection, having healthy habits, stretching properly, doing checkups and adjusting accordingly>avoiding situations you deem as being too risky for what you're trying to achieve (ex: you don't need to go on a pro, no-headgear boxing match to learn how to fight)>understanding your own body limits at the time, and not pushing itPersonally I recommend not doing martial arts that involve receiving strikes in the head with no protection. IMO that's asking for early dementia or a stroke.Something like Judo is good I think since it's mostly just grabbing and throwing. But do what you think it's best for what you're trying to achieve.
>>34621066Judo is conveniently the cheapest one in my city. Thank you for your practical and well-thought out advice anon.
>>34620935The only good fight is the one you avoid.
>>34621087NP man, martial arts can be fun. Pick one that feels right and cool for you.Good luck mah boi
>>34621087martial arts to avoid knee damage is the most retarded thing i've ever heard lol
>>34621106it's martial arts to get jacked and be badass, anon is trying to avoid the obvious side effects
