I've had a problem for a long time with my memory and I'm reaching my breaking point over it. I can barely remember anything, but nothing pisses me off more than reading a paragraph and not being able to recall ANY of it. It's literally like I never read it at all. I have different diagnoses from depression to OCD and a load of other shit. I can't handle this anymore. I want to get a job but how am I meant to work anywhere if I forget everything 5 seconds after it happens? I feel like a fucking retard. I want to put the effort in to deep diving into different interests but I just can't fucking remember. What the fuck do I do to fix this?
>>34627736If you're reading something technical and dry this is normal, I have to read some parts of the bible out loud so I don't keep on reading the same verse over and over.
>>34627736as long as you have some kind of goal while reading, you'll be fine. Your brain is just efficient at disposing new useless information from using the internet too much.
>>34627736There is a difference between running your eyes down a page and actively reading. They're two entirely different mental processes, and you have to train yourself to do one rather than the other.Practice by forcing yourself to treat every piece of reading like a school assignment. Stop at the end of every paragraph and ask yourself "What did that say?" and don't go on until you can answer it. Fortunately you will VERY quickly start doing this automatically, to the point where it doesn't slow yopu down at all.
