I (20F) recently started dating an autistic guy, we’ve been together for a few months now and so far we haven’t had any problems yet. However, yesterday I started to think about the fact that most of our dates are normally in his apartment or mine, with maybe some occasional walks in the park but apart from that it’s mostly indoors stuff. It doesn’t bother me at all but i’ve really been wanting to have a nice gesture with him and take him somewhere while also respecting his limits, though i’m not really sure where. What could be some good options that aren’t too gloomy but also don’t overwhelm him?

Keep it simple to start off. You aren't limited to spending money on fairytale date scripts of public events. You should do something which is repeatable and easier than that to create long-term value. Definitely keep up the walks! Make that a regular reliable routine, not just occasionally. Keep yourselves, your bodies, active and healthy together. During one of those walk, I would've asked about other things he likes doing outside the house. I would answer: frisbee and kites!My suggestion is to build upon your existing walks. That is already familiar for him, so you can modify it without being such a dramatically different activity. A picnic where you arrange everything. Perhaps in a new location, maybe there's a nicer park a bit further away. Simple sandwiches sounds good to me, but whatever you both agree upon. Some cold meal which is easy to carry. Source: My new girlfriend did this for me and I cried because it meant so much to me (disclaimer: not everybody cries as much as I do). Plus I feel in debt now. It was such a selfless, perfect day she made for us. I don't have a car so it's really hard to repay her in kind, but I am doing my best. Ymmv; dunno how your guy will react, but he will at the very least like it and appreciate it.
