Am I supposed to join them? I honestly don’t know why they’re bothering. We’re office workers so it’s not like we have to worry about shifts or safety. I’m quite happy with my pay and benefits. I don’t see any value in introducing a bunch of red tape and aren’t these unions just fronts to funnel funding to Democrats?
>>34629763The reason businesses don't like unions is that they improve your wages and benefits. Why don't you ask your coworkers why they are unionizing. Even if you're happy, they might not be
>>34629841That's what they're supposed to do, but more often than not they just end up stealing from the workers while providing no benefit. Sometimes they become so bloated and corrupt that they actually begin deciding who gets to work and who doesn't.
>>34629845I mean, they control shift allocation for certain industries, deciding who works or not, but you work in an office, that shit isn't going to happen. Why don't you talk to the people and sus out if they are corrupt shitheels or not
I didnt join the union at my office job because they failed to sell me on it, it costs like $80 a month in dues as well. For the union orientation the reps looked like slobs and were really cocky, the only real benefit they gave is that they can negotiate for you if u are about to get fired. It pissed me off they were acting like joining it is a no brainer so I didn't. Also the negotiation doesnt do anything for new hires on probation either. Im glad I didnt join because I found out that the union rep in this office is an absolute retard who has tried suing over racism because they stopped offering her shifts because she kept ignoring calls asking her for overtime. Also the union dues you pay will go towards gay political shit as well. However you dont even have one yet so I recommend steering clear of all this bullshit as your company is probably gonna find an unrelated reason to fire all the people advocating for it lol. >>34629841Im really cynical about unions because I live in NYS, one of the strongest union states in the country. Shit like the teachers union and police union benefit them but not the general public as they make it hard to fire pedophilic teachers or shitty cops. If you are a factory worker of electrician join your union but if it is just an office job its up to you lol.
>>34629763When you get unexpectedly laid off for no apparent reason, you'll wish you'd joined.
>>34629763Join the union. Siding with your boss over your coworker is raped behavior, there's just no other way to put it
