For context: NEET 20M
Looking for a minimum wage job to get started.
I've been doing the following
>Applying online via different websites
>Reaching out to companies that aren't posting
>Following up with previous applications
I've even visited job search assistance offices in-person. And soon I will actually drop off resume in person.

LinkedIn is a social media platform & I am very uncomfortable with using social media, mainly due to privacy issues. Not to mention it just feels performative, fake, & selfish. I was recommended it by a relative. You shouldn't have to network in order to land a simple minimum wage job.
>>
It helps. Your manager is probably on there trying to get a better job.
There was this guy who lied and said the newbie they hired is his assistant to get cred. I'm assuming that people want it to seem like lots of other wagies work under them.

When did I mention manager?

Besides privacy issues I'm very certain I lack quantifiable achievements which is necessary for a profile, like certifications for example. Not only that but I loathe the idea of having to put on a professional image.

If you're a minimum wagie you're probably going to get one. If they think you're an asset to them personally they'll want you around more.

What if you're not as young and barely had any formal jobs, wouldn't it be complicated to make a Linkedin? I'm not sure it'd help much.
Isn't it better to just show up with a resume or something in such cases?
>>

Maybe :P

Do as much homework to make yourself feel like you're going to fit in the job.

Some minimum wagies you can roll up your sleeves and show them that you know how to do the work on the spot. That also requires practice.

>Isn't it better to just show up with a resume or something in such cases?
Yeah, do nothing because you already have no experience. Great idea

OP here
I just hope that I don't have to network for a simple job. I could understand if I was aiming for something higher, but not yet.

Wait what since when do you need a linkedin to work at a gas station?

it's too late you could have been building up your resume at 14 now you have too many gaps also no masters degree.
>>
>>34637346
ok boomer what's next just walk in a place and ask for a career?
>>

Just apply on indeed. I genuinely don't see why dominoes would care if someone has a linkedin?
>>
It's kinda like with dating and Instagram. You want it for social proof but whether is does or doesn't actually get you to your goals is more up in the air.

Both jobs I've gotten in STEM were from Indeed so not even sure if they actually looked at my Linkedin at all.

FWIW I have a job but am also applying for a weekend one (ever since starting years ago I've never applied for another job), and got to the video interview stage. I happened to have a LinkedIn Premium trial so used it for keks and noticed the company I applied for hadn't even viewed my profile. Whether that means I'm unsuccessful or they don't check at the resume submission stage (maybe background checks after you've been accepted) I don't know.
But at the very least, this fairly big company doesn't seem to require it the moment you become a candidate.

It does help to have one though, and you will become easier to find by recruiters and get to use its internal job search if you want to expand your options. You can keep your profile private if you don't want others to find you (I only use it to thumbs up promotions/new jobs of people I know), otherwise it serves no other purpose.
