I've always gotten easily angered, my mother and brother both are the same. When I get angry I just find it impossible to control myself, and as I don't want to break anything I usually either bite myself, hit myself or smash my head into my brick wall till I calm down.

I've always had this short temper and I'd like to get rid of it.

Go to therapy! Everyone says therapy is helpful, sometimes it doesn’t seem like it possibly could work. It will, if you allow it to. It won’t fix you, it’ll make you realize your own mistakes and give you ways to work on it and “fix” it yourself.
I also suggest having things that you can put anger onto. Theres these hand things you can squeeze with little plastic spikes on and I’ve heard really good things about them. I’ve never had really bad anger issues, but I have problems with emotional regulation and it’s also been helpful to have exposure therapy in hand with making yourself feel aware of the situation and try to realize your emotions and explain them.
Have you tried journaling?

im not angry, im sad.

It helps to understand that anger is always irrational and never justified. It can't solve problems, it doesn't "get back" at whatever made you angry in the first place, and solutions are always easier to come by will a cool head. Anger comes from the belief that you've been harmed or inconvenienced, so meditating on humility and selflessness in your calm moments can go a long way towards preventing anger later. Also, I'd suggest reading Seneca's 'On Anger'.

>Go to therapy!
No, I neither have the money or motivation
>squeeze with little plastic spikes
Tried it once, doesn't help. Threw it at wall, it bounced back which annoyed me further.
>Have you tried journaling?
No, and I won't as that seems homoerotic

Wish I could get a punching bag, but I can't really beat one in my apartment.

Here I was thinking anger was just my chimp brain chimping out as a defence mechanism. Just because bleeding isn't ever helpful, doesn't mean you won't ever bleed. Trying to say that I can't just wave away anger.

Of course you can't just wave it away, it takes continual effort and practice. But part of that practice involves minifying your anger rather than magnifying it. If you ever catch yourself trying to justify your anger to yourself, or imagining that you have a right or a reason to be angry, that's when you need to combat that belief with the appropriate counter-argument. There are hundreds of logical arguments against anger, but zero in favor of it. It's extremely difficult in the moment, which is why it's helpful to spend some of your quiet time in contemplation and study, so that you can be prepared with arguments and calming techniques on hand when anger does come knocking.

>Just because bleeding isn't ever helpful, doesn't mean you won't ever bleed
What a stupid comparison. I bet you felt 'clever' writing that out.
>Trying to say that I can't just wave away anger.
You're supposed to. You're morally (and subtly) obligated by society to learn to contain wave away anger. If you refuse to do do, and let it leak it out, you'll probably be punished for it somehow. The other option is to learn how to deal with it when it comes.
