I'm 23 and just got my drivers license. I live in New York and I'm looking into car insurance for a car I want. My parents want me to go under their car insurance, but my mom last year had issues. Some of her private info ( mainly credit card info ) was leaked due to my autistic brother putting her info on bad websites and I want my personal information to be safe ( mainly my personal email accounts, I've done a good job keeping them secure my whole life ). Can I still go under their car insurance without giving them any info more than necessary? I don't trust them to know my email or credit cards.
You need to talk to your parents about your concerns if you haven't already.Would your brother have access to your info via your parents' insurer's website or their mobile app? I would think that's the only way you could realistically stand to have your personal info leaked.Financially, it's most likely a no-brainer for you to get on your parents' policy for the next three years.

The insurance company would only have that info if you asked your parents to have them email you statements or save your card to the account.You'll be safe; don't worry.

bumping this thread. I have another question.If I get a custom license plate would my email show up then? I'm also worried about my drivers license potentially being stolen.
