But that had nothing to do with the fact she was raped, had everything to do with the fact she had other issues, low intelligence being one of them.Rape victims can have baggage they bring to the relationship that's mostly involuntary from their side, not their fault but still complicates things. Such as being afraid of sex, being afraid of abrupt touch, being emotionally defensive or perceiving small disagreements as a potential threat that they respond to with emotional outbursts or going cold and distant and avoidant, sometimes both. Depression, anxiety, low self esteem and a very low self body esteem, they may see their own bodies as something contemptable, either seeing themselves as ugly or seeing their bodies as a trigger or reminder of the rape since it was their bodies that had been targeted and assaulted. So they can be very ruminative and checked out of reality since physicality isn't their favorite place to dwell, climbing inside their own heads is preferable to them. On the few times they do try to follow through with physical touch or sex, they often break down and cry afterwards because of the conflicting emotions and guilt of having them to begin with.Overall I think if you're someone who can fixate on their positives even if they themselves can't perceive their own good qualities, and you know how to have patience and understanding then dating them should be no problem. Especially since they heal eventually, either in a relationship or outside of one.
