Gender is not a performance. You're either a man or you're a woman. You can swap them like wearing different shirts. That is not how reality works. The only reason why some people think it's possible is because they have a very low sense of self identity to begin with, they don't exactly know who they are as an identity or person, they don't know their own wants or their own needs or their own goals or their own role in life so they form this habit of performing as things they are not to fit in. Here is how you be more masculine:

1. If you ever get upset by anything just focus on your breathing.
2. Work hard every day of your life, even if you get no gratitude or recognition
3. Be loyal to your word, and be willing to give your life for what is right
4. Find a woman and make her happy at your own expense
5. Also get her pregnant and make your kids happy at your own expense
6. Lift heavy weights in the gym. Optional: shorten your lifespan with roids to lift even heavier weights.
7. Pick an area of expertise and be the absolute best at it, and do it every day of your life. It doesn't matter how crap it is. If you are selling cars then memorize every make and model and its engine and mileage per gallon and all the other crap. If you are selling hot dogs then learn to make art with the ketchup and mustard. You have to find some way to distinguish yourself or you will fall behind in life.
8. Sometimes you can do everything right and still fail. Perhaps your wife will divorce you after you studied at university and got a good job and worked overtime for years. You will just have to accept that your labors are not yours and that others have rights you don't, so be stoic about it.

Based on your response to what /r9k/ said, I think you have a misunderstanding of what a tomboy is. A tomboy is just a woman who likes and does manly things. Heck, a tomboy can even be a woman who just doesn't do girly things and likes sports and/or cars. The point of being a tomboy is that you don't always want to be a man. You just want to act manly & like manly things. That is what a tomboy is.

Working out is a big part of being more masculine. I don't recommend taking any drugs, even ones that aren't considered permanent. Liking cars and watching sports helps, but if you want to go more manly, knowing how to fix cars or do home repair & playing sports is even more manly, but just knowing basic car maintenance like how to change your fluids does fine.

Very manly, being independent and paying for your own stuff is manly. Not asking for help but knowing how to look up information on your own and solve your own problems is manly.

Most importantly though, is you can't get into an activity if you don't actually enjoy it. So before going into the deep end of a hobby, look at it first and see if you like it. Most men only learn how to fix something when they need to have it fixed and we do so because it's not manly to pay someone else to do it for us, however we do realize when something is too far outside of our scope and requires an expert instead of trying to do it ourselves and fuck it all up or get hurt trying to do so. (And sometimes we do it anyway and get injured or worse.) If a fix is a simple Youtube tutorial away, great.

As for being better off being a tomboy instead of FtM. I think if you're fine with being a girl sometimes, that's great. You can absolutely and more easily be a woman who likes dudebro things. You'll also be accepted more by people that way. If you go the trans route, you'll only be accepted in those circles and nowhere else, people fake being an ally all the time just so they don't get judged by the loud minority.
