I used to be bullied in high-school, so now I automatically assume that people are judging me everytime I'm in a social situation. Objectively, I know that they don't care, but that doesn't stop my nervous system from going haywire. What can I do about this? Exposure doesn't really work, I work in an office and I'm still nervous everyday. I'd also rather not use any drugs.
>>34654402>automatically assume that people are judging meSo what? Do you value everyone's opinion?
>>34654402Just understand how bullies think, I was a bully in school. Bullies are bullies because of envy, that's all. It's because when some other kid shows up and he is on his own, and he is having fun with his quirky interests and seems engaged in interests and hobbies and seems happy enough by himself and even does well in class, it paints a picture of a kid who has things that we don't. And in envious anger we bully because secretly we admire the fact this kid has the balls to be himself and enjoy himself without requiring others, it makes us feel like weak stupid idiots in comparison so we bully to destroy the things we cannot have ourselves. You were judged yes. But the bully judgement is: "this kid is happier than me. Has a better life than me. I hate him." That's the silent judgement you will never actually hear. Instead the bully will tell you the opposite, that you are a loser and a freak and a weirdo to make you feel like you don't have the things we envy so you let go of it, so that you don't succeed while we fail. So we can feel better about ourselves. Because we don't won't to be alone in our pain, we want others to feel it too. In other words you didn't deserve to be bullied. You're not whatever your old bully said you were, your bully was just a cowardly kid who hated you for not being a coward like he was.
