tips on socialization/normie practice as a 30 year old? long story short, i was always the "weird" guy, totally shut down for the past 15 years basically just waiting to die, but recently i have gained a second wind in life and want to try. feels like i am emotionally and socially stunted. should i start going to restaurants by myself?

Find something that you think will be interesting but won't require a lot of social participation from you until you're ready, like a sport, church, community college class, library activity, etc. Therapy or a shrink can probably help, too.

Last reply is good.
My suggestion is always go to conventions, for whatever you enjoy. Built-in friends and shared interests. Because I'm on 4chan: I went to local anime cons for a few years to max out my socialization stat. Half of it was literally to just practice being social and get better at it. You will absolutely improve if you make the effort. You can also spend some time on their message board... or, well, I guess social media now. To pre-make friends you can meet up with at the actual con.

How do you stop negative thoughts? I always think to myself "nah this will just be lame. Ill just be a loser weirdo with other weirdo losers there. Theres no point in even trying. It will just be a let down etc etc". Its literally killing me.
