In my country, the process is that you have to undergo multiple appointments with a psychologist before even seeing an endocrinologist. The psych can help you work through your feelings on how you feel you won't be able to pass or social issues, work on it with you long before any medical side, then they will help you decide if actually doing hormone treatment or other things are the best option for you or not. You might even find during that process that you do or don't want to go through with it as you work through these complexities. Sometimes it's overwhelming before starting, but a lot of transgenders report feeling morec calm and in control of their image after they start the journey, even if it doesn't lead to a permanent transition.
