I seem to have bouts where every morning I feel very unenergetic. I'm not very alert, avoidant of making effort, probably can't think as clearly and so on.
I seem to be fully awake and have energy by around midday, but that's not great given I start work at 7am.
There's no obvious cause I can identify. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with sleep quality or duration. Blood tests don't come up with anything.

It may be in part that I'm just not a morning person, but then it's strange that there will be periods where it's not an issue at all and I feel fine almost as soon as I get up.

I haven't been able to find any other likely causes and doctors aren't much help so I'm not really sure what to try do about it.

Energy is more mental than physical. Meditating every morning would help.

Are you familiar with sleep cycles? Your brain sleeps in ~90 minute cycles during which it does different things.

Waking up at the end of a cycle feels very nice and restorative, because your brain "cleans up" and gets you in a good position to be awake before it wakes you up.

Waking up mid-cycle feels pretty shitty, because your brain wasn't expecting to be awoken so abruptly and things aren't ready.

Humans were designed to be woken up at the end of a cycle, by their brain, after getting enough rest. In the present, though, most of us are woken up by an external force, usually an alarm.

The only advice I can give on fixing this is just to go to bed earlier so your mind has time to naturally wake you. Your alarm should be a failsafe rather than the thing that usually wakes you, you should get up ~30 minutes before it most days.

Scientists have studied tribes of hunter gatherers and noted that the entire tribe is NEVER all asleep at the same time. Someone is always awake and they also dont have a rigid structure assigning watch duty or whatever. Human being just naturally come equipped with a wide range of circadian rhythms. This is natures way of making sure there is always someone awake to watch over the tribe. It is a pure lie of the industrial revolution that you are supposed to be in sync with the sun.

What this anon said is right. The days you feel more rested you likely woke up at the end of a cycle. I advise you to download a sleep cycle app and track your sleep quality for a week or so. You could also film yourself to see if you move a lot during your sleep.

so whats then if i wake up every 2 hrs? every 4 hrs? what if my rem cycles are fucked ie non existent?
>>
>>34702463
Truth.
>>
>>34702463
>>34704484
so what apprenticeship or job can i take when i have to sleep every 4 hours for at least 4 to 9 hrs
>>
>>34702079
I've noticed that often when I wake up ~40-50 minutes before my alarm I feel far more ready to get out of bed than I do after I get back to sleep and get woken up when the alarm goes. I assume those times I'm waking up are when the sleep cycle ends.

That being said I'm sceptical that waking up during a sleep cycle would make such a big difference that I'm groggy and miserable for the next 6 hours as a result.

>sleep for nine hours every four hours.
You have time for a nap, even commuters. It pays dividends.
>>
>>34705607
uh idk if you got what i said.
my day has 8 waking hrs, 1 of that takes me to get fully awake, eat something, 1-2hrs is doing housework, 1hr to eat and prepare a bigger meal.
so as i said, i have about 4 hrs of waking hrs for work, you want me to commute 1-2 hrs. what apprenticeship/job can i do for 2-3 hrs per day then?
yes i am disabled
>>
I'd get a sleep study done if you can see a doctor. There's a lot of sleep disorders and they're very treatable.

That is assuming you're not just sleep deprived and don't know it. So make sure you're getting at least 7 hours a night if not more

Sleep quality.

That’s the stupid thing about disability, at least in the US. People can do all kinds of stuff but for some reason it must be done on a schedule just because. As if it is so mind bending to pay someone for end results, and there’s stupid laws that require an employer to pay a minimum amount for someone’s time. People are encouraged by the system to be worthless. Still, though, that part about needing time to wake is gay. Get up and go, then go. You can autopilot an hour long commute or morning routine and wonder how you got there later. If you wake up with an enemy shooting at you, you don’t get to have coffee first.
>>
>>34706798
im not from the us. it is my personal schedule, because im constantly tired of so called "narcolepsy" and i need the sleep ie i wake tired up and go tired to bed. sleep 10hrs so i can do something for 4 hrs. then go nap for 3-4 hrs then go to sleep and so on.
i dont believe in it but the diagnosis is there.
>Get up and go
its easy for you but i cant. im literally a groggy slob. also it is dangerous to go outside. i could literally get dead because i didnt realise xyz was too fast moving because my mind is asleep.
also id rather die than drink nigger sauce (coffee)

You are just a lazy fuck. You need to change your diet or get some sun or some shit.
>>
>>34707734
thats what i thought too
the last 8 years i tried everything from changing diets, to taking supplements, vitamins, minerals, doing sports, stopping smoking tobacco to invocating spirits to astrology and esoterics and mysticism
nothing helped.

You're just not a morning person. Morning fags are the absolute worst most insufferable pretentious cunts on the planet. Being up at 6am is a Jewish capitalist lie.

When I got older I actually started waking up at six but I still feel kinda bad I just feel worse when I go back to sleep and wake up again so I MUST go to bed early or it’s pure misery.

What, why? We all have a little junk dna :_(

That sounds natural Desu. Not once in this thread have I read someone acknowledging that caffeine timing or personal reaction to it might be part of your problem.
Around midday, your circadian rhythm actually starts sending out the hormonal signals for staying awake, that is your body's natural way of preventing an afternoon crash from the pent up sleep pressure. In the morning your body relies on lack of tiredness for staying awake.
As you probably know the body also reaches its highest temperature at 4 PM, so at 7 AM before you've even seen a bright light your body's different processes are still in night mode despite your brain being technically awake.
Try looking at a bright light for a few minutes when you get up or experiment with your caffeine intake

I had shitty parents who won't let me sleep a full night all my life my brain is beyond fucked
>>
>>34710300
Explain the caffeine timing
>>
>>34709292
Yeah apparently it's normal for Greek people to get up at like 9:30 and they stay awake and have shops open until the early midnight hours.
>>
>>34707364
How about tea?
>>
>>34710331
wtf why?
>>
>>34711022
Timing and quantity, I haven't found the perfect solution. I have found for myself that I need it immediately after waking up, others suggest delaying it to give your body some time to adjust to being awake
Also consider that having it in the afternoon at all affects your sleep quality at night further increasing your sleep pressure in the morning
Imo the light thing is real too, I heard that seeing the morning sun or a bright light even for a few seconds recalibrates your biological clock
>>
>>34712183
One last thing, it is said that a lot of people drink coffee instead of water in the morning when you need both because coffee actually dehydrates you which can also make you tired
>>
>>34712191
That’s true and I try to drink both. I do tend to sweat a lot too.
>>
>>34712183
I wonder if this is one of those cases where a window cuts down on the benefits whereas opening it or going outside gives the full benefits, or if I can just use a lamp or something.
>>
>>34712236
I'm not sure myself. In winter I just stare at my bright bedroom headlamp, in summer I open the window and look outside for a moment.
>>
>>34708872
Fwiw if you’ve on antidepressants Zinc can help
>>
>>34701591
No, seriously, you're probably dehydrated. Cool it on stuff like sugar, caffeine, and alcohol, drink more water. When you first get up drink like 16 to 32 ounces of hot, as in tea drinking hot, water.
