years ago I made a post talking about my best friend, I'm a woman, he's a man, he confessed and when I rejected him he stopped talking to me completely, blocked me on everything, blocked any new accounts I make, I've mostly given up
but I loved him, not romantically, but because we had been best friends for around 2 decades, and it hurt to lose him, it still hurts, not as much anymore though
still, any new ideas? and would somebody be able to find that old post I made? I tried to find it, I posted Asuka and Shinji, it wouldn't hurt to look through some old ideas at least
I provided a lot more detail back then too, I've forgotten most of it now

You can't be friends if he has romantic feelings for you
>>

well a few things could happen
>suck it up
>learn to let them go
>realise it's been years and he probably doesn't have them anymore
>>
>>34705298
For how much it hurts you, it'll hurt him more to be around you. Just accept it and move on
>>
>>34705298
Why do you want him back in your life?
I’m sure he had his reasons for blocking someone he had known for 20 years. Maybe you led him on.

One of the many strange differences between men and women is that women innocently and sincerely believe they can reject a lover and still be friends, while men tend to think in all-or-nothing terms.

Your one potential advantage is that time has passed, and he might be ready to look at you as a friend again. Make a friendly overture. Find an old photo or clipping and send it with "This reminded me of the old days and made me wonder how you are these days."

But be prepared for rejection or silence.

an i'm sorry hand job

what

as another anon said, as much as it hurts you to lose him it hurts him to be around you without being in a relationship with you. there is no perfect solution but him cutting contact is better in the end since you will naturally forget him after time passes, but he will still be in love with you if he stays as a friend, and will have to watch you go with another man causing him immense pain.

/thread

if you didn't reciprocate you already did the best thing by being up front when he confessed.

don't go fucking things up now. Anything else will make it worse.
>>
>>34705298
Why would he waste his time with you if you don't want him? Men are highly logical and cold. You can't be friends with them. Let him go.
>>
>>34705298
What makes you feel entitled to this guy’s attention? Leave him the fuck alone.
>>
>>34705298
You ran out your free trial on “the boyfriend experience”. He offered you a deal on the subscription service and you didn’t want it, which is fine. After that, though, he should legitimately fucking bill you for attention if you want it lol
>>
>>34707248
Nothing says i'm sorry come back and pay attention to me like a hand job! It's low effort since you're not into him like that.
>>
>>34705298
Tell him how you feel. Or if you can't contact him, contact one of his friends (if he has any) and tell them to pass along your message, or write him an email or a letter, if they care enough they'll certainly listen and understand.

>just be a weird, desperate social media stalker
Would you give this same advice to a young man? Of course not. You’d tell him to leave her the fuck alone if she blocked him on everything.
What’s with this assumption that she’s entitled to the attention of somebody who went out of his way to cut it off? Do women respect men at all? If so, respect his decision.
>>
>>34705298
This bait and switch is common with men. Women want a man who will take them. These men become your friend in order to force something more then take away the attention they gave to show you "what you've lost". If you don't love him move on. Watch Little Women. Jo did not want Laurie and it was her right. Use this time to think about what you threw away and if it was worth it. There are plenty of fish in the sea.
>>

>do women respect men at allll???
Some guy above suggested a hand job
>>
>>34711691
You're right in the sense that I wouldn't give this advice to a young man, such as myself.
But men are just more moral and understanding than women on average. A woman will scream at a man for doing this, true, but a man won't scream at a woman for doing this. It's a complete double standard sure but clearly I did not have any say in socially acceptable behaviour.
>>
>>34711703
Society has flipped. It used to be the women who were more moral. Its better for men, the leaders, to accept the responsibility of morality.
>>
>>34711705
>It used to be women that were more moral
No, women were just always more concerned with performative morals.
History is awash with women being complete assholes. I'm coming to accept that.
>>
>>34711703
>>34711705
But what is the morality even in question here? The dude doesn’t become any more moral for dispensing attention just because she wants it after he chose a different direction in life.
>>
>>34711712
Some men don't chose their direction in life, many are just pushed into "learning" they must go with the tides.
A woman breaking his fate for a better one is hot.
>>
>>34711712
I was talking more about the general morals. Men now want wives and children and Christianity while before they were using women for sex.
>>
>>34711711
It's up to moral men to save our society.
>>
>>34711718
But I won't deny he might be in a completely different place now, maybe Op did hurt them irrevocably, the best thing you can do is ask to be sure.
>>
>>34711718
It's also the plot of every isekai ever. And for good reason.
>>
>>34705298
Unironically leave him alone, it's over.
