I’m 29 and never had a job ever in my life, I live at home with my mother who doesn’t really care that I don’t do anything. I did not go to university and I have no skills and of course no work experience. I don’t have a single friend or anyone who can help me out. Can I salvage this or is it over?
>>34706897You can salvage this, look at it this way, you're a blank slate. I recommend trying to find things that interest you that you could study for not too much. There are lota of things you can do without a degree, and you can make friends and meet people along the way. Two of my best friends were much like you, they hadn't worked their whole lives, and then in their mid 30s they found what they wanted to do. One is training to be a councillor, the other and electrician, both started at that over 36. It's not over for you, you still have time, please don't give up on yourself.
>>34706897Going to university at this point is a waste. Let's say you can graduate in 4 years. You'll be 33. Do you really think they'll want a 33 yo fresh out of university with no previous experience when they have people in their early 20's in the same situation? You're only contemplating this idea because it buys you time before the inevitable reality hits you.Get literally any job you can. Find some non-university courses for particular skills(depends what you'll find interesting and vocationally viable) and start doing them, then start applying to jobs in the sectors these skills open for you. Yes it will suck and a lot of doors are closed for you forever, but you won't get out of the hole otherwise.
>>34706897yes you can salvage it. get a job first, if you're fat lose weight. shave your beard off and get a haircut. buy clothes that your mom didnt pick out and that you haven't been wearing for the past 5+ years. as for the job, optimally something you can work up from. and no job is "demeaning". i didn't fuck up like you, and I'm younger than you but from when i was a senior in high school up until sophmore year of uni, i worked any random ass job i could, especially summers. I transported chickens from a chicken farm at 2 AM, i picked blueberries, i stocked shelves, i worked in warehouses. Do that shit until you can find some place you can work your way up. For example if my universits thingy didnt pan out well and i wasn't doing a PhD, i would gi wash dishes at a restaurant. An older buddy of mine dropped out of uni at 23, started washing dishes at 24, now he is a cook at a pretty nice restaurant at 30. Just chip away at whatever you want to do. Find something you wouldn't hate doing and work towards it. And don't always listen to your mom. Sometimes your mom will look at you with teary eyes and say "son you have to do x promise me" which is the worst possible advice that will keep you stagnant butnshe doesn't know that since she isna boomer and then you will say "yes mom i will" and then DONT do that. I have seen lots of shit, i have seen 30 year odl NEETS who dropped out of humanities majors become senior devs through perseverance. You could buy a bus ticket to a harbor town and go work on a fucking fishing boat, be out at sea by next week. Do anything. It's okay to lie and embellish a bit to get the ball rolling too, fake it till you make it.
