So short story short:>get a new job, well paid and I like it>few months pass >they hire a woman to a part of the company that I honestly thought was redundant with ours>I talk with that woman>she's nice and all and I kinda like how she looks like>pay no attention at first>time passes>I've noticed I'm just randomly thinking about her at times, I'm obviously a bit infatuated with her>decide I'll just try to avoid her and it'll pass>month later>company merges my and her wing>guess who's sitting next to me in the office now!I don't think I'd ever be able to actually make something happen with her, but I don't want the pretty nice job to turn into torture because of this feeling. I've had girls friends tell me they genuinely enjoy that I didn't hit on them, when many of their friends had given it a try. It'll also help dating more than you'd imagine. It's also a very useful trait now that I'm in a couple. So I'd say focus on that, becoming a better person.If you really can't control yourself it's more complicated. If you were a pedophile in a kindergarten I'd tell you to change jobs and that it's on you even if your new job is worse.So in your case, since it's only moral to ask her out if she wouldn't have to face you everyday after refusing, it's on you to first switch desks, tell HR if you need to, maybe even change jobs. Or, once again, just learn self control and move along.
