Nearly 15 years ago, I had a girlfriend back in my country (Mexico). That relationship didn't work out for a number of reasons. I cheated once, I was violent, she stole money from me, vandalized my car, and so on. No victims here. But the last straw came when she got pregnant and I asked for a paternity test. She took offense and decided to end things once for all. (We did went through with the test btw.)

Later that same year, I got the chance to move to Spain, thanks to a cousin who'd already been living there for a couple of years. I took it. About a year after I settled in Spain, I met a japanese woman. She also became pregnant, but that relationship fell apart for different reasons. After giving birth, she left the child with me and returned to her country.

And now, that's exactly what I'm planning to do, go back home. I've saved enough money, and I want to see my son whom I've not seen since he was a baby. I've stayed in touch and sent him money regularly. But my daughter has spent her whole life in Spain, and I'm worried the sudden change might be too much for her. I've always tried to make her understand we are Mexican and Spain was temporary but she has her own ideas. Well she is a kid.

She's also never had a great relationship with her brother. They know each other through social media, but they've never gotten along. I'm afraid they still won't get along once they meet in real life. Because both are my children and I love both of them.

Any advice for someone returning to their country? In any case my parents are very happy about this and I'm very forward to introduce them to their granddaughter.

My only advice is before you leave try to lay the foundation for your daughter to get Spanish citizenship. Her life will be a million times better with the option to legally reside not in Mexico
