I'm 19, and I just passed my first interview for a position in my local hospital's cafeteria. Now I have to go back for a second interview in a few days. The main dilemma I'm facing here is that I'm having second thoughts about working there. I originally wanted the job because I felt the hospital had good opportunities for growth, in case I wanted to pursue something there in the future. Plus, I wouldn't have to worry about running into any of the kids I went to high school with, like I would at a McDonald's. But at the hospital job I'm only getting paid $15 an hour to wipe down tables and pick up trash, and I wouldn't really be working by myself and away from people like I'd hoped. There's a McDonald's five minutes from my house, and the job there would be about the same as the one at the hospital, except it's a lot closer and probably easier.Should I just go back for my second interview, or take a job at McDonald's or somewhere else instead? I'm seriously starting to reconsider whether I made the right decision or not.
>>34708672Go for the hospital job. Totally different level of existence. More time for yourself, probably some type of retirement options, union pay scale. Don’t fail the marshmallow test. That job could be good enough even if you never amount to anything else.
>>34708672Go back for the second interview anywayGet this job and then whether you want to keep it or not, youll be in a better position
>>34708672The hospital job is more stable and better on a resume. All McDonalds is good for as an experience is that it shows history of being a good corporate slave.
>>34708672Your first job is exactly that - your FIRST job. You are not going to retire from it in 50 years. Take what you can get
>>34711509You could maybe retire as the head janitor at the hospital or in another department there. Probably not as manager at McDonalds.
