yeah i have tried it too, it's not 'pleasant' but i don't mind it either. the only issue for me is cars that smell like cigarettes since i start to feel nauseous for some reason. otherwise never minded it.

You don’t actually have to smoke the cigarette to go “out for a smoke.” You can just say you’re “getting some fresh air” and just stand around the smokers. Feel free to carry a lighter and a pack around in case any of them ask for a light or for a cigarette, but if any of them comment they see you’re not smoking yourself, you can just say “oh I’m trying to quit.” Smokers don’t really notice or care that you’re not smoking.

i sometimes think about this, if i'm alone i always just space out but if there are others at a bus stop or waiting around me i feel like i have to pretend to look at my phone so i won't look weird. i always wonder how many of the others feel this way in those moments lol.

i guess what has so far stopped me is i don't understand what people mean with coping with life/feelings by smoking. i don't get it. but ngl maybe i'm just mentally ill since i also for example don't listen to music to experience feelings or to get into a mood, i "feel" nothing from music. i just listen to it because i like the sounds and think some music simply sounds good, nothing more.

Honestly the worst thing a partner can do is try to force their partner to stop smoking. Especially when they make it a comparative competition where they force the idea that if you don't quit it must mean you don't love them. Not only does that count for controlling behavior, it makes the addiction x10 harder to quit. The guilt and worry of failing the attempts to quit adds to more cravings to kill the added stress especially if your partner starts arguments for every time you fail. It's a fucking nightmare
