So my boss is a bully to me and my coworkers but we all need the money so we put up with it, but I decided today that I can't take it anymore so I'm going to find a new job and once I secure the new job, then I'm putting in my 2 weeks notice. That's the plan but I just need advice on the little details like how to explain to HR my situation without calling my boss a fucking asshole, and how to handle my boss for the last 2 weeks I'm there because I'm sure he's going to be extra angry those 2 weeks

HR doesn't tell on bosses like a 12yo gossiping classmate. And if you are scared that the boss will be ''Angry'' we got bigger problems broski.

HR is not your friend, but HR also doesn't like drama. If the hostile environment continues get a lawyer. You don't need to explain them your situation, it is as clear as day. You are being graceful with this 2 week notice in the first place. Ask AI for these type of HR Jargon if you want, but just use shit like, Hostile workplace, bullying, reduced performance, and that you are not happy with the leadership.

No need to stress this buddy, fear is how they control you. I'm sorry I cant be much of help, I don't know you specific situation and dont want to give bad advice. Good luck on your journey to a better employer!

HR should know why people choose to leave and communicate to stakeholders through whoever. Do the right thing and tell them he is an asshole. Try to be polite for the two weeks or leave him hanging and go home sick if he wants trouble.

Thanks for the advice. After sleeping on it I've decided to lock in and put in my notice on Monday after work. My only question is will I be the one training my replacement, because then my boss will know I'm leaving

Actual HR here. Exit interviews are done for a reason and despite what people online will tell you, your honesty is appreciated. We may not always act on your complaints, some things really are just a damn that sucks type thing, but shit like hostile bosses is a problem we can address. Work requires difficult conversations sometimes but that doesn't give anybody the right to be an outright asshole to you and your team.

Do you have actual documented incidents or just a vague sense of "he's mean"? We need actual stories to work with, not simply feelings of hostility.
