Does anyone else find socializing exhausting, almost like a chore? It’s nothing personal, but I feel like I can’t be my true self around people, which makes every interaction feel forced. Is it normal to force these connections just for the sake of having friendships?
Isn't this board basically filled with people that feel like that?
>Does anyone else find socializing exhausting, almost like a chore?socializing is an activity, and as such it can tire people out, especially if the circumstances aren't that likeable; it can serve many purposes and can indeed feel like a chore if you participate it more or less forcibly due to social constraints or anyway expectations>It’s nothing personal, but I feel like I can’t be my true self around peoplethe You you are alone is a different You than the one you are when you're with others, it's normalI think you should abandon the idea of a "true self" because there really isn't one and trying to compare your actions to an ideal version of yourself's ones can only bring fruitless demoralization; not acting 100% upon your desires all the time due to social expectations/constraints is a natural part of social life, maybe even a price for it, whether this is an acceptable or an unacceptable price depends on your circumstances and what you value in life>Is it normal to force these connections just for the sake of having friendships?in part it is, there is no such thing as an ideal friendship where you're always 100% in sync with your buddy; no matter how close you are with someone, it's unavoidable there will be moments where you feel forced to interact with them, like listening to them infodumping about a hobby you couldn't care less about, or arguing due to trivial mattersconsidering this, you should aim to distance people with which you tendentially feel forced to interact with, while you should aim to approach people with which you tendentially feel at ease to interact withalso, when you begin to know someone, it's more likely you will feel anxious or uneasy, so don't just drop it before you're sure enough it's worth dropping it
>>34715358It's called autismYou're welcome.
>>34715448Third post best post.
>>34715358I only feel open when I'm with my family now, it feels weird because everyone really judges you and criticizes everything you do. You ever get that stare of judgment and they're basically hypocrites and contrarians when they do the same thing but probably around others. I don't think you should be like that anon, don't have friendships were you have to hide yourself.
>>34715358i feel the same way. i've tried pregabalin and it completely flips it around, and socialising feels good and i just can't get enough of it, it's like it tickles something in my brain, and i'm not even consciously making an effort, the right words just flow out. if that's how normal people feel when they socialise then i'm extremely jealous. at least we have this miracle drug so it could be worse i guess
>>34715617pregbalin + spravato + a beta blocker in case of emergency high drain situations will turn the most socially anxious person into a fun Chad within a week or two
I feel this too. Its almost like you have to put on your own play to make connections with others.
>>34715636> pregbalin + spravato + a beta blocker in case of emergency high drain situations will turn the most socially anxious person into a fun Chad within a week or twoExtremely interesting
>>34715358It’s exhausting because you are afraid of being judged, but this is an irrational fear. Everyone judges, even you. Once you stop being insecure about it, you can proudly be yourself in front of others. You are not supposed to force connections with people you can’t relate to. You find people with similar values and you focus your efforts on those people.
