I've found my GP thinks ADHD is made up and will not do anything about it. I am wondering if ADHD meds would help since I have absolutely insane executive dysfunction and can't get anything done.

What he will do is prescribe SSRIs or send me to a mental health councellor. But I've done hundreds of hours of therapy/councelling over the years since I was 5 and it was just me running in circles. Only recently found out they have zero psychological training, and can't deal with autism or adhd, use CBT as a cure-all. So they just give you vague positive talk, or worse, just assume you're a normal ass person who just so happens to be having a downturn, so they assume you can do everything a normal person can. ie useless.

I'm at my wits end, since I know my brain is just wired differently and it's perfectly okay going "procrastinate, fail all your uni classes, but make sure to spend 16 hours on fan wikis!". I know intellectually what normal people do, so just telling me to be "normal" doesn't help.

>GP
The redditor of medicine. You're supposed to ignore those talentless retarded hacks, they're the HR of doctors they're not real doctors they just Google shit but instead of Google it's the medical journal and then they do guess work. They're societies fraudsters. What you're supposed to do is directly contact a specialized psychiatric clinic that focuses on ADHD diagnoses and go pay them for a full evaluation

>they just Google shit

My current GP literally googles shit in front of me.

And i'm waaaaaaay more cynical about GPs now. But he's my only GP that I have and he thinks ADHD is made up. He also for some reason got my age completely wrong, and has no memory about past encounters or updates. I am doing 6-12 months sometimes between sessions and I know he has more. He's also repeated the same things to me verbatim like 4 times in a row, like he has a script he reads off.

It just hit me he's kind of an idiot a few weeks ago. But he's my assigned family doctor and the gateway to doing things. And he thinks ADHD is made up but hands out SSRIs like candy.

"Surely my GP wouldn't hand me powerful medicatiosn without informing me of their side effects. I'll trust his opinion."

Bzzt wrong. Do not go past go do not collect 200 dollars. I'm waaaaaaay more cynical and self-aware now. I can't just sit back and let them diagnose me since i'm going to get the run around or SSRis again.

>What you're supposed to do is directly contact a specialized psychiatric clinic that focuses on ADHD diagnoses and go pay them for a full evaluation

I have one 2012 session where I'm diagnosed with autism spectrum. Can I just use that? My main thing is that i'm poor so I've mostly tried going through GPs and psychs that my

The thing is that the psych was good, but he was mostly only seeing the sperg side, of someone talking for 45 minutes straight, nto the real main issues that make it hard to do anything.

My understanding is that to get free psych shit it's through my GP or through a referral to one.

Yeah because a lot of GPs ironically have ADHD themselves. It's the blind leading the blind situation, sorry but it's true and I'm saying that with adhd myself. We are fucking cancer when interacting with each other in the wild.

Look at him the dude can't remember updates can't remember your ages just Google's shit. GP is ADHD as fuck

Forgot to add: nah avoid free psych shit. When you pay nothing you are to expect nothing helpful. The most qualified psychiatrists are premium because they evaluate you thoroughly over the span of a week of rigorous assessment.

He's a very young doctor who replaced my last one who retired. I think he's going for a young-hip relatable angle and he clearly has rehersed speeches.

When I asked about SSRI prices he said "oh I was once a young student who had to worry about costs, so these won't cost much.". A young student. So he thinks I'm younger than him? I'm most certainly older than him. And in my first visit he agreed that I'm in good shape and that I should get a general physical when I reach a certain age. That was 4 years ago and he's never mentioned it since.

I am pretty sure he is not even reading my chart which clearly has my age at the top.

Point being is that he's a ditz. But he has a medical degree, and is my main barrier. He also thinks ADHD is overdiagnosed and will do everything to avoid dealing with that.

I have done the math and I'm up to 150+ hours and it's mostly going in circles. I've since found out that NONE OF THEM have any psych training, and none have any idea about ADHD, and they just give vague positive pep talks. It explains why they're so useless. What I find baffling is they never once went "Hmm... That's outside my area of expertise." or "Hmm... you should look to talk to a psychologist for a diagnosis".

Instead it's the councellor/therapist shimmy where i go to them endlessly. I have since done my own readings on CBT, and it has some value, since negative talk is both a symptom and cause of depression, but honestly they all look like they're designed to help depressioin and nothing else.

Not once did they tell me what CBT was, and not once did they ever explain their qualifications or background.

The thing is that I'm in Canada. All these people have a Masters degrees, and they are paid a pretty penny for what they do. This isn't cheap. But it does feel worthless and that a lot of money is spent to make them pointless.

So now I'm no longer depressed, but my core issues are not dealt with, AND I am way more cynical.

Lol "GPs" that shit just stands for "Gate Keepers" they're useless. Those retards are the reason why people can't catch their cancer diagnoses early because they delay people with Google guess work. "Oh you have blood in your shit? Feel bloated and full even after shitting? Sudden weight loss? Hmm.. could be just hemorrhoids. Here take these ass pills and shove them up your ass thrice daily for at least a month and then come back."

And in that time someone just went from a savable stage 2 cancer to terminal stage 4.

that's too cynical.

lol bro we cannot have nice things. A few years ago you could adderall from telehealth just fill out a questionare and boom you get addys. Now you have to jump through hoops like a bitch and it will take you months. The government does not want you to be happy or motivated or energetic it downright cannot allow it. People who feel good are people destroy flock cameras and fight back.

does it actually work?
>>
>>34728431
I wasn't cynical about doctors until I actually had to interact with them.

A LOT of doctors are arrogant. Or incompetent. Or both.
>>
>>34729850
Generally no. Not anymore. Online pill mills are mostly eliminated when it comes to stimulants or opioids. You can get SSRIs at a huge mark up from some websites like HIMS but there sketchy because they're basically doing a 30 second text chain and rubber stamping the drug prescription you already chose.

I'd go to a dedicated psychiatrist if possible and explain your issues and go from there and be open to what they recommend. SSRI work for a lot of people. People have this idea that depression is sadness but it's more like "low brain activity" and that can wreck attention and focus before it causes the traditional sadness symptoms. The chain smoking cat anime is actually a really good depiction of real depression. She's not really that "sad" but has executive dysfunction like crazy and self medicated with cigs

NTA but doctors are alright, they got an excuse for any incompetence or fuck ups since their job is to tell people they got cancer and listen to screams and cries every week. If they fuck up it's understandable, their arrogance is actually just from being hardened from a tough line of work.

But GPs though they can take a flying fuck to themselves. They glorified receptionists who waste your time before referring you to an actual doctor
>>
>>34730084
I ahve taken SSRIs before, and they seem to work for depression and anxiety. But they also don't seem to quite touch the major issues with executive function and fear of specific triggers. I can be "normal" and then hit a deep fear and just collapse into anxiety spiral with a hard time to stop it.

I also seem hard-wired to have night time depression.

have you tried strattera?
>>
>>34730489
Is an a real psychiatrist not a GP. And they'll like try you in Wellbutrin if you haven't already tried it. Prescribing stimulants is hard to do for some reason the FDA and drug companies work together to make a shortage
