Is it normal to not want to be around wife's ex-husband and their family? My step son is turning 12, his father and his stepmother are throwing a party for his birthday, and the stepmom has invited my wife and I.I dont really talk with them, my wife remains cordial for step son's sake. I try to support him however I can, we go to his school events, encourage achievements, etc.But I just have an aversion to the idea of going to their home and being around their family and friends. At some point I wonder if I'm being unreasonable and childish, or if it's fair for me to feel this way as my wife's pissed at me for not wanting to go. Somewhat emasculating? In a way, awkward? Why does it feel awkward for me? And is that discomfort something I have to get over or is that a fair boundary
>>34730374Get this straight: THIS STORY IS NOT ABOUT YOU. The party is for the boy. What message are you sending him by not going?Suck it up. Go. Be polite. Be (or act) happy. Make HIS day happy. That's your job.
>>34730374If being emasculated was your problem you wouldn't be asking this site. Put it this way: your step son, wife and even the ex husband isn't going to say to you "kys cuck". But the replies on here will. You're in the wrong neighborhood nigga
>>34730374You have to man up. This is part of having kids. You have to hang out with other parents doing awkward, expensive, or boring things. Just make the best memories for you, your wife, and most importantly the kid. You'll be happy after it is over.
