When I took my clothes out of the washing machine, they were soaking wet, like there was no spin-dry cycle and some water pooled in the bottom. Nothing I could no at that point being it was 10PM, not allowed to use the machine after that, and these are pants and shirts that I hang up to dry. Seemed to smell okay as if they had been cleaned, but then the next day half of my clothes smelled awful, wtf is that stench, is it harmful, and can I still salvage some things. Had to throw a few away cause they just stank so bad. If you're doing laundry for yourself, get a mini portable washing machine. Even manual ones can be easy to use.

>>34761479If they still smelled fine after taking them out of the washing machine, it has to be bacteria build-up over the time when you dried them. There is a certain type of bacteria (I don't remember the name) that grows with wet clothes. Meaning, the longer your clothes are wet, the more bacteria there is, which make your clothes smell like sweat and musky and like shit. It like builds on top of your organic shit on the clothes that remain (like dandruff, oil, etc.). The problem wasn't the washing machine, but the fact that they were wet for a longer time. The fact that there was still a puddle at the bottom of the machine should indicate something like a power shortage or an error in the machine. They just stop from one second to the other and all the water stays in inside. You could just put them in another washing machine and let them be cleaned again. More temperature maybe, but not necessary, I think. If you still want to dry soaking wet clothes, hang them up and take a fan. Put the fan on the clothes, so that they move. The most important part for preventing the build up of said bacteria is temperature and air-ventilation. The latter makes a huge difference in the speed of the drying process. Nothing harmful or eternal.
