I have hatched my plan. I call it the final solution. I will be spending all my remaining money on a trip to Thailand where I will be getting a amygdala ablation surgery. I will have to fake having epilepsy to get this done but that shouldnt present much of an issue. The idea is that by having this operation done I will permanently be weakening my brains fear circuitry. This fear circuitry is what has prevented me from having success in life. It has made it so that I cant have fulfilling relationships withothers, I cant approach girls, I cant start or lead a company, I can barely look other human beings in the eye, a simgle puff of marijuana smoke once sent me into a nighmarish panic attack. My amygdala is simply too powerful and this is the only way forward for me. R8 my plan and give me any other pointers to making it a success. Some of you guys are cool and I will remember you when I am an all powerful psychopath. Thanks
>>34763307Meh fuck it good idea
>>34763307Cool. Make a new thread after you get it done. Tell us how it went.
>>34763307Idk, are there any non-benzo anxiety medications that make you feel all-powerful? I had that feeling with Adderall once.
>>34763307The problem is that I was reading what people who got this surgery say, and they don't really say they've become fearless. There might be some other sectors of the brain that also participate in fear, which this surgery doesn't resolve.Have you tried taking a combo of Lyrica and a beta blocker? That makes you fearless like booze, but not stupid and sloppy.
>>34763320Cocaine does it. Cocaine and alcohol or cocaine and benzos will you legitimately believing you are capable of anything. Seems everything that really works is HIGHLY addictive and there is no reliable solution that avoids this. Kind of why this is the final solution. The brain just actively wants you to be beta if you are not one of the chosen alphas. It will adapt and push you back down if you are born a beta.
>>34763323Yeah I have tried propranolol plus gabapentin. Its not quite lyrica but I find that the beta blocker is really not that useful. I think its a case of doctors giving you a very safe pill off label for anxiety because its safe and placebo might help you. Pretty sure tolerance for lyrica does develop. You might remain less anxious than your baseline but I think the long term effects are very mild plus you have to jump through hoops to get the script
>>34763319>hey guys it turned out I chickened out before the surgery but I fucked a bunch of thai prostitutes and ladyboys and that cured me anyway
>>34763350You can use your several months of reduced anxiety to actually build yourself up through exposure/socializing.But if you decide on the amygdalectomy, please post feedback on here, it's very interesting information and i want to hear from non-redditors about it
Me i'd worry that not having any fear will mean you're okay with homelessness and shit and you'll just end up a destitute nutcase
>>34763307Completely moronic, 0/10. Fear doesn't come from any particular part of your brain or from your brain in general at all. Fear comes from your beliefs. If you want to stop feeling fear, stop believing things to be fearful. Make peace with death, then act with the knowledge that the worst case scenario is only death, which you've already accepted. It's fear easier to meditate and change your beliefs than it is to mutilate your brain.
>>34763370Ahh but it doesnt work like that. Take a person who is afraid of flying. You can tell them the statistics. That they had a greater chance of dying in car wreck when driving to the airport than they do of dying from plane crash. They can be intelligent and fully understand what you are saying to them. The fear will not be even slightly reduced. The lizard inside your brain does not give a fuck what you believe.
>>34763369Im heading that way anyways. I will become an alcoholic and die from it like my father and his father before him.
>>34763370>Fear comes from your beliefs. If you want to stop feeling fear, stop believing things to be fearful.This. Look into occult stuff or Robert Anton Wilson's Prometheus Rising before you do something as fucking stupid as removing parts of your physical brain.
>>34763307You will be destroying ambition as well as fear. Defeats the purpose.
>>34763477I actually started using the term fear circuit after reading promethieus rising. But ultimately I think he was just another jew charlatan with a few decent insights (most of those copy/pasted from timothy leary thouhbiet)
>>34763477I am still interested in occult stuff though. In a weird way it does feel like >downregulating fear circuits should be extremely possible>people have had reason to look into this >if you discovered the answer you heavily gatekeep itAll the necessary ingredients to make me think so hidden answer could be out there.
>>34763523oh and like the powers that be and the church and governments would all want to destroy this knowledge. Thats a big reason pointing to the occult might having something.
>>34763500it will be unilateral not bilateral. So im not fully destroying my amygdala. Just half of it. Should retain my core personality and shit
>>34763507You're right about Leary. Anyway, it's just a model. The important part is reality tunnels and consciously moving between them. Create a model where your fear doesn't exist or that is confirms the action you need to take.
>>34763382It does work like that. If we were held hostage by our brains, then no man ever in human history would have ever been able to overcome the fear of death. No man in history could have gone to his death quietly and calmly. And yet there are hundreds of examples of men doing exactly that. Just because you tried and failed does not mean that it's impossible. You are the sole determiner of what you're afraid of. Nothing can force fear onto you without your consent.
>>34763608Conquering a fear is not the same as not having the fear in the first place. Every person with a functioning brain felt extreme anxiety going to their death. Manually overriding your fear works when you have to fight but manually over riding your fear in social situations still makes you still come off weird. See the difference?
>>34763586Reality tunnels were an explanation for the neuroplasticity induced by psychedelics before we knew about such things. They might still be useful as a model for thinking about things but idk
>>34763653That's just wrong, I'm speaking from experience. Once you've conquered a fear you cease to have that fear. I used to have fears that I no longer have as a result of personal effort and meditation. Everyone who watched Socrates die remarked on the fact that he was exceedingly calm, cheerful and relaxed. You absolutely can and must overcome your fears through introspection and meditation. There isn't any other way, it doesn't matter how badly you mangle your brain. The fear comes from the belief, not from your body.
>>34763744Not the anon you're replying to or OP, but what are some meditations you recommend? I've already ruminated on death, realized I fear disease and pain/discomfort but not dying in and of itself, and while I'm less afraid of death than I used to be I still struggle with hypochondria.
>>34764115There are a few to pick from, which one works best for you will depend on your value system. There's the Buddhist "giving and taking", for example, where they fixate on the idea that they're taking on all of the world's suffering with every inbreath and then giving away all of their happiness with every outbreath. The result is that they aren't fearful in their day to day lives, because even when something bad does happen to them they simply take that as them having gotten exactly what they prayed, hoped and prepared for.If you're not quite as dedicated to self-sacrifice, though, there's also the Stoic method where you concentrate on the fact that every pain and every illness is an opportunity to increase your own manly virtues. You remind yourself that the trials you go through teach you patience, compassion and fortitude, which are more valuable to you than comfort and ease. There's a bunch more from various traditions, but essentially what they all have in common is that they're matters of focusing on the idea that there's something more important in life than getting your own way. That we're here to learn, or grow, or help others and not just here to indulge ourselves. The best method for you will depend on your values, but for any of the methods to work you have to have values to go beyond yourself. Someone whose only concern in life is his own comfort and pleasure will unavoidably be terrified any time something threatens his comfort and pleasure, there's simply no way for him to escape it until he learns how to care about something else more.
>>34763307Sounds like a fucking stupid idea.
>>34763307My friend, have you ever thought about your plan for more than a few minutes? Just think about it, one step at a time, really think it through. You're going to spend ALL of your "remaining money", just think about that. That must be a reasonably large amount, and it seems like something relatively scarce to come by, because you don't have a high-paying job, most likely (inheritance money?). And you're going to spend it in this fantasyland dream of yours. Let me ask you a question, do you even know how to fake epilepsy? I assume you've seen a few videos here and there, but have you really studied how to do it? Most likely not, and do you know why that is? Because you don't truly believe this. It's paradoxical. If you truly believed your plan, you'd have spent a long time learning about how to fake epilepsy, neuroscience, the whole amygdala stuff, and at some point, you would've grown out of it. You would've conquered your fear, because you would've grown competent, knowledgeable, and confident in that topic, and you would've seen how all those fearful thoughts crumbled away as you become good in that area. But you didn't do it, so you cling to that fantasyland dream. The ONLY things you need to conquer your fear are self-reflection, and intolerance. To look yourself in the mirror, really examine your beliefs until only the true remain, acknowledge the good things and the bad things, and then work on bettering yourself, that is already half the battle, and it is not something herculean, it is EASY The other half of the battle is simply not giving a shit about fear. You CAN control your fear, YOU are in charge of your own life, there are no chains or manacles holding you. The only manacles and chains that can hold you are your own beliefs, but the moment you recognize that they're false, and that you don'y want them, it's over. It's literally that simple. Once you've got these two things in place, you'll be able to do anything you want.
>>34763307>>34764334Continuing because I reached character limit. There is a reason why Socrates' most famous quote, even if he didn't come up with it, is "Know thyself". There is also a reason why Plotinus' most famous quote is "Withdraw in yourself and look."
>>34763744You're dumb and chudmaxxed
>>34764349>>34764334gay
>>34764334Yeah this guy is a retarded faggot. You cant change your core beliefs with meditation. Introspection itself is the opposite of what a person with anxiety problems needs to do. You need to work on being present at all times and externalize rather than internalize. Seek to completely stop thinking about yourself and your internal state as much as possible.
A man can only be brave when he is afraid. If you are fearless, you conquer nothing.
>>34766146He's completely correct. You're either very mistaken or you're giving bad advice on purpose out of malice. There is no such thing as a person who isn't in control of his core beliefs, and meditation is exactly how it's done. You can't change your mind about something you refuse to think about, so refusing to think at all is the same as choosing to stagnate indefinitely.
>>34763307Instead of doing that, just ask ChatGPT to provide you a list of activities you can do that work to reduce amygdala size. There are lots of them.
>>34766146"If I just ignore my personality flaws and pretend that they don't exist, surely they'll go away on their own" is not a winning strategy.
>>34766260It absolutely is. Winners dont dwell on their personality flaws. They are too busy winning. Externalizing rather than internalizing like a bitch
>>34766225Samefag defending yourself lmao. You are the one giving bad advice. All the meditation in the world could not change a thing about your core beliefs.
>>34763307Before you do, go do ayahuasca for 2 weeks in Peru. Then do it if you still feel the need.
>>34766285>>34766289weak bait
>>34763307You absolute fucking retard. You absolute, complete fucking retarded SIMP idiot. Thai women are so fucking overrated, as is DIEland. Go to fucking Latin America, Colombia, Mexico, India for christ sake, find a hot girl in those places, what the fuck is wrong with you? Yellow fever simps are honestly Darwins theory of weakness in the flesh. Jesus fucking christ, do some Salsa in Cali with some tanned girls there. What the fuck is your obsession with Thailand, guys? You just want to have a miserable life, im convinced. Grim.
>>34766347Meditation cant change core beliefs.
>>34766519No one is weak minded enough to actually believe that.
>>34766723Well its a fact. You cant change your core beliefs thorugh meditation. Even if you devoted 8 hours a day to it every day. The brain just doesnt work the way you want it to lil bro.
>>34766729>no one has ever thought about something and then changed their minddumb retard
>>34766768Deal with it bro. Your amygdala does not care what thoughts you think. Anyone who has ever had an irrational fear can attest. Knowing your fear is irrational actually has no effect on it.
>>34766786I've had irrational fears and gotten over them. You're just refusing to try and then insisting that it's impossible.
>>34766786>Anyone who has ever had an irrational fear can attestno, anyone who has had an irrational fear knows you're full of bullshit. if i had your attitude i'd be just as fucked as i was years ago. things get better when you put in the effort and keep an open mind. when you insist on being a miserable stupid fuck, you stay a miserable stupid fuck.
>>34766791>>34766792Nope. You get through your irrational fears by facing them, getting gradual exposure, teaching your amygdala that it is safe. Not sitting on a pillow thinking. Introspection not required and its actively counter productive in my opinion.
>>34766786>>34766802Nah, you're wrong. Meditation helps. Exposure therapy also helps. Stop being a crab in the bucket, you're literally just seething that people have found something that works well for them.
>>34766802>maybe if i say amygdala a few more times it'll make me look less retarded
>>34766786Wrong.
>>34766819>>34766821>>34766826Deal with it samefag. Also no im not "crab in a bucket". I think you are legitimately giving bad and harmful advice. Telling someone with anxiety problems that they need to look inward, ruminate, and examine themselves even harder is terrible shit tier advice.
>>34766889schizo retard
>>34763307>>34763323>>34763477A high quality and high IQ thread with real discussion? Best thread on this dying website right now.Too bad you posted this on the advice board instead of dressing it up a bit and posting it on a higher traffic board like /lit/, /x/, or even /pol/ since they can really go into autistic detail at times on the politics board. I wouldn't know if the /sci/ board would humour this post since I have only passed theough there on a few occasions.I have wanted to try beta blockers to lower my inhibition after finding a thread anout this on LM where lurk on occasion for this sort of advice, but for now I rely in a combination of alcohol and nicotine to make me normal when I want to talk to women, or just nicotine and exercise when I want to make an inspired decision that require balls.Good luck with your plan OP, though consider a neurochemical and mental approach first before messing around with your hardware
>>34769149and what I mean by this is that apparently a dopamine detox along with certain substances can apparently undo a trauma response by interacting with dopamine pathways and removing negative associations from certain things/events by altering the neurochemical response to these things.I will have yo look through my bookmarks to find what I am tlsking about
>>34769155as in a protocol where the detox and these substances, along with a particular routine focused on forcing your Brain and body to reset, effectively brainwash you and do a reset to your brain.I have to go now but will return to this thread, hopefully before Z*ch shits it up
>>34769149This is the lowest IQ thread on the entire site, currently. It doesn't get any worse than inventing a plan to mangle your own brain because you're too lazy to put effort towards mastering yourself.
>>34769188There is an entire board dedicated to cutting off your dick.
>>34769221Yeah, they're in the same league of stupidity. Wouldn't surprise me if OP actually was a tranny. But cutting off your dick is exactly 1 iota less retarded than cutting out part of your brain.
>>34769188You fundamentally don’t understand the problem and you’re calling others retarded. It’s not possible to “master yourself”. Not through hypnosis, drugs, meditation, exposure therapy, religion, magic, affirmations, brainwashing, fucking nothing. None of these are possible. You can overcome specific fears but there is no generalized solution to overcome over active fear circuitry
>>34769155>>34769159>vagueposting
>>34763307You just have to out your best foot forward and face your fears head on.Cutting out the part of your brain that processes emotions in an attempt to lower inhibition and neuroticism is cheating and offensive to the scripted lives of normalfags.
>>34769245>It’s not possible to “master yourself”Yes, it is. Stop being weak and apply yourself.
>>34769331Not how it works bro
Faggots please try to understand the premise. Its not asking "how do I overcome a fear". Its about "how does a beta fundamentally become a low fear alpha". A beta can face and overcome a fear but this is not a core personality change.
>>34769345It is, and it will remain so no matter how many times you insist otherwise, and no matter how many times you samefag to call yourself "high IQ". You're using a third grader's understanding of neuroscience to assert that all change and positive action are inherently impossible because you think that everyone is born with preset fears and preset failures. Not only are you making yourself a weak defeatist, but your ideas aren't even scientific. There has never been and there will never be a serious scientist who would insist that positive changes are impossible. There has never been a serious person anywhere in life who thinks that it makes sense to get brain surgery to overcome basic bitch problems that literally every high schooler who ever lived has gone through. You need to grow up and stop blaming your brain for your failings. Stop making excuses not to mature.
>>34769350you're just retarded bro, take your L
>>34769354People absolutely have preset levels of fearfulness. This is not debatable. You can see the baseline fearfullness in literal babies and it remains persistent through life and predicts life outcomes. I think you are just not understanding me deliberately at this point.
>>34769357Meditate on your L while the grown ups talk fucking retarded faggot
>>34769368There's no debate because you're wrong and don't have even the slightest idea what you're talking about. If people were born with fears that required brain surgery to overcome, then everyone on earth would still be afraid of monsters under their bed until they got the "monster under the bed fear surgery". I really hope for your sake that you aren't any older than 15, otherwise you've stagnated yourself horrendously with your illogical and asinine beliefs.
>>34769372>WAAAAA IT'S MY BRAIN'S FAULT I'M NOT CHADyou ain't a grown up little nigga
>>34769380fear and fearfulness is different wordsbrain surgery->fearfullnessexposure therapy->a single fearmonster under bed fear go awayamygdala not go waycan i make this any stupider for you to understand? do you need drawings?
>>34769381Thats factually correct it is my brains faut im not a chad. This is not debatable
>>34769389You're already about as stupid as a person can get. If it's possible for you to overcome individual fears, then you can overcome fearfulness. Each fear conquered is one less fear you have to deal with moving forward.
>>34769392you're not chad because you're a weak bitch who blames everything but himself
>>34769395There is not enough time for that
>>34769400You see your brain as separate from yourself? How would you propose a weak bitch stop being a weak bitch? You obviously cannot say "just do it". You are talking to weak bitch remember. He cannot just do it.
>>34769405So now it is possible. Just keep that in mind, your entire posture went from "it's impossible" to "okay it's possible but there's not enough time". Hold on to that realization. With that said, there's absolutely plenty of time. You only need to overcome a few major fears to live a happy and successful life. As long as you're not afraid of failure and dying, it doesn't really matter if you're afraid of spiders or heights. You have decades to overcome like two important fears. Everyone has time, and it's not even that hard.
>>34769421So mushroom trips to hell can maybe suffice as exposure therapy for death. Not sure how you would ever make your lizard brain recognize generalized failure. You would have to fail in every domain repeatedly
>>34769439You just realize the fact that every failure is a lesson. That every single success is built on failures. It's literally that simple, you recognize a basic undeniable fact and then accept it as true instead of twisting yourself into pretzels trying to go into denial over it like you're doing. You don't need to game the system with mushrooms or surgeries, you just need to let yourself grow and mature naturally. Everyone, left to their own devices, will gradually learn that failing isn't so bad, that it was better to try than to give up, and that when they finally do succeed it was only because they had the courage to fail at first and learn from those failures.
>>34769439>>34763307what do you think OP?Can this be used to reset the brain's inhibition and neuroticism, or is this just a junkie encouraging unsuspecting anons into consuming toxins?
>>34769470Bro we are not going to get anywhere because you just ignore how the brain works. Understanding something does not mean the amygdala understands it. You can have fears that you know are irrational. It doesnt matter what your conscious mind thinks.
>>34769487You do not know how the brain works. You are not a scientist. You need to stop thinking that your cursory glances at wikipedia constitute an education. You aren't going to grow out of this retarded phase you're in until you stop being such a conceited moron.
I just started supplementing lithium and I quit drinking coffee. Doing this has removed my social anxiety to an extent I never would have thought possible. I dont even understand it but now I can walk into a room and just chat with strangers and crack jokes. I also bought some clothes that fit me good and I think I am just more confident from that too. Not sure what the biggest factor is here but wagmi
>>34769487>>34769491One of you is retarded but correct. The other is intelligent but wrong. The act of suppressing fear and panic is a muscle that can be trained in a universal manner. Simply building up this muscle will make you the type of person you want to be. Meditation that forces you to learn to be present effectively does this. However amygdala anon does have a better grasp of the neurological situation than buddha anon. Coming to realizations or having epiphanies are not required here.
