How do I get my BPD mother to quit calling me crying about some petty slight that happened literally decades ago? She literally calls me and bawls on the phone for a hour straight over some stupid petty thing that happened years ago and then after does the same damn thing a week later and I’m frankly sick of it.
>>34766799what do you think? you're gonna have to cut her out of your life. There's no words, no amount of love, nothing you can do to fix her behavior. She has to want to do that. You have to decide whether or not you want to deal with that. Be warned, even if you try strong boundaries she's going to test them and try her hardest to make you feel bad about them. Hopefully she can find some other supply and you can keep a relatively normal relationship with her someday

>>34766799You can't. All you can do is block her number
>>34766799You can just hang up or block her
>>34766799This is probably a question that's better suited for a therapist, but it seems like you'd need to draw a respectful boundary around how her BPD affects the relationship while also making sure your own needs aren't being ignored.I deal with narcissists in my own family, and one of the ways I've learned to handle conflict is by staying calm and setting a firm boundary: "I understand you're upset, but this is how things work. I'm not going to discuss it any further."
