I had drug induced psychosis about a year back and I have since developed extreme OCD but I want to be sure it's just OCD and not schizophrenia, which means it has to be treated differentlyI am hesitant to get tested because I am afraid of my doctors not seeing me as an adult with my own agency, and all the many paths to life that would be cut out because they don't allow schizos like becoming a pilot or getting security clearanceI am not afraid of learning my diagnosis because I am in denial. I am just afraid of how the world will see me
yeah pretty sure if you catch it early you can be pretty much normal the drugs just make a lot of people gain weight but it essentially prevents the brain from getting too fucked up
>>34767734They won't, as long as you act rational and mature and are responsible with your self care and actually take steps to manage your mental illness. Mental Health professionals fucking hate dealing with schizos who won't take medications or who feed their delusions and are non-compliant, simply because they are annoying pests. let me put it this way, if you are non-compliant with treatment, you basically become the annoying retard in the classroom who disrupts the lecture to argue about completely unrelated conspiracy theories.>and all the many paths to life that would be cut out because they don't allow schizos like becoming a pilot or getting security clearanceIf you have Schizophrenia you need to treat it like a fucking adult and not do this dumb as fuck toddler-tier magical thinking where if a doctor doesn't diagnose it you don't have it. If somebody has Bipolar Disorder and has manic episodes, or experiences personality breaks due to borderline personality disorder, they still have the disorder. Yeah you may lose some shit but for the most part you don't lose access to anything legal like firearms ownership. And you don't want to be a peon for the government in security clearance jobs. And if you hide it and say, start operating heavy machinery or doing surgery or some shit and have a psychotic break, you will have your ass forcibly committed and you will be liable and barred anyway.
>>34767734Mental illness is like all illness - you either treat it and get better, or you ignore it and let it ruin your life. If needed glasses, would you avoid the optometrist just so you could maybe someday become a pilot? If you broke your leg, would you avoid the doctor because you hate crutches?
>>34767734It doesn’t matter if your doctor knows you have schizophrenia. Just get tested. Do you hear voices?
>>34767734Both of you should
