I came to university to improve my life and make friends, but I don't see this being sustainable. I rarely attend class, and while my grades are surprisingly fine, I have no interest or drive in what I'm studying outside my major. I'm completely isolated in this new city. I'll take my laptop to a coffee shop to work on projects, hoping someone comes up to me, but nobody does like they used to in my old city ..maybe the stress is just showing visually. I really don't care to spend the next five and a half years in this environment. Everyone here feels like a total drone, and I can't bond with anyone on a meaningful level. I felt much happier in my hikiko days where I could take my time working on my own projects, watch anime all day, and live safely in my parent's expensive house. It feels so unsafe here too, the part of the city is very ..thuggish and there is a lot of violent crime... I'm very frail it's only a matter of time I fear.

So go be a faggot by yourself. Everyone's a drone, everyone's an NPC. We get it dude, you're such a special boy, mommy's unique little snowflake.

Former university employee at 3 schools in the metro area I was born in. I did IT for them, but became familiar with the inner workings of academia after fifteen years of this shit.

The only advice I can meaningfully give you is to at least stay in school. It's cliche, but a lot of people want to go to school and have drive but can't, so the fact you are there is something you should take stock of and be thankful for. There are literally millions of third wolrd immigrants who fight to get into our schools.

As for interest in your major, you really have two options:

1: The first is I would re-evaluate what your end game is here at university. If it's to just study to meet some imposed expectation, that needs to change. I'd do what my high school counselor made every student do halfway through senior year of high school. He made us develop a 5 year plan using the Occupational Outlook handbook. We had to put up five jobs, and what educational requirements, and they had to line up with the same degree we wanted. I suggest you go and evaluate what you want from a degree and a job. You may switch majors. That's completely normal, and honestly, a majority of students did it at the schools we were at.

https://studentresearchgroup.com/statistics-about-changing-college-majors/

If you are stressing about switching majors, don’t worry: It’s actually really common! Around 80% of college students switch their majors at least once. Not only that, but on average, 1 in 10 college students changed their major more than once.

52% of math majors switched to another major
50% of engineering majors switched
40% of natural sciences majors switched
37% of education majors switched
36% of humanities majors switched
35% of all STEM majors switched
32% of general studies majors switched
31% of social science majors switched

2: Get checked for depression. Your school probably has a free clinic and might help you get treated.

if you're a man you have to be the initiator in talking to people

did this last year, but didnt go to lectures or anything and failed my first year, i had pretty severe depression. my strat for this year is to give up making friends and not being a looser and just focus on my degree and my hobbies. normalfags btfo. bascially be a hikineet+going to lectures. I also know the general place and what social events are like so this should suppress my retardedness and I know what to skip.

I tried to do computer system engineering which includes a lot of electronics which im not cut out for, so probs gonna switch to pure compsci. My dad said he might get me an internship at the company he (now) works for after a year of uni so thats what my "goal" is and the only reason I'm repeating. I dont know if I should get diagnosed for depression the neetbux sounds kinda nice, but Im actually kinda hopeful right now though I dont know how long that'll last

Theres literally nothing I could do outside of uni, its either work at the supermarket, try to collect neetbux or repeat uni.
Why does this guys whining at uni post get replies and mine dont :c
