I'm kind of tired of hopping between jobs, I'm 24 and have been on my 12th job now.Ive been in various industries. The job Im currently in is pretty much a career for life supposedly, recession proof and good pay and I should be greatful I have it but I just dont have the passion and it's not really what I expected. If I stayed a few years I could go into different departments but I dont know if theres any guarantee I'll actually like it.I got offered a job to work in another sector I worked previous which I enjoyed a lot and no other job I've been at has matched it, but this is a different role in a different company but it has less pay and maybe not as much room to expect unless I hop companies but probably would be great experience either way.Am I stupid to throw away such a good job for something a lot less or what?
>>34772239Stick with the job making more money, make good connections and get some savings. Build a life outside of work though.Work shouldn’t be your life, but you can’t hate it the whole time since we unfortunately spend most of our time there. Most people aren’t passionate about their work, and that’s okay as long you find passion elsewhere. Maybe if you’re lucky you can turn your passion into a full time job that doesn’t kill it for you lolBut it’s honestly better to have a hobby you love and a job that simply isn’t making you miserable
>>34772374I already have a decent amount of savings already so I'm fine if any emergencies do arise.I have other hobbies outside of work too that I occupy myself with that I don't necessarily want to turn into a job anyways and I'm content with that.Don't really know what I'm chasing in the end, I just want to feel somewhat happy and interested with the job I'm doing instead of it being mundane if you get me.I know I have a whole life ahead of me and I haven't built up anything as of yet. I do have dreams of starting my own business in the future which probably isn't going to happen because I suck at the selling side of things.I think I just want to experience a lot of things before I try and settle but at the same time I don't really know if I can settle. I always want to be doing something and something different.I really do question myself a lot and I'm isolated
>>34772430> I’m isolatedMaybe that’s what you should shift your focus to? I don’t want to get too off topic, but it certainly feels like you feel like you’re missing something. I don’t think a modern job can fix that, it’s usually about the people you’re working with. Anyway,I’d make a goal to keep this job for at minimum 1 year for your resume’s sake. Assuming it’s just boring and not misery that is. What are your interests at all? Like, you have hobbies and i get not wanting to turn those into your job, but what about them interests you? Do you like working outside out with your hands more? Do you like making people happy?
>>34772460I get along with pretty much everyone I work with and get commended that I am a great worker but that's pretty much as far as work relationships go.Technically on paper I've been in this job for a year and 1 month because it was like 9 months in training but now I'm out in the real world type of thing.I've got a few hobbies on the go, mainly mapping, pretty fun and enjoyable, gets me out and about but most of the jobs are office based once you get out of grunt level work. Sysadmin is fun in a hobby aspect but as a job youre in an office all day as well.I don't like strictly office jobs and being confined in the 4 same walls is a killer. I did want to help people out more and wanted something with a bit of dynamic to it, that's why I joined my current job but lets say its far from what I had thought about it before. The business thing isn't going to work because I don't really have anything to sell to the market that's new and different.I feel like I'm just floating and all these different jobs I've had and nothing to really show for it, I find that I'm just floating in between places and not really being anywhere.I need something to be doing constantly otherwise like I've been doing today, just procrastinating and thinking about this possible job offer, playing games and not doing anything productive
>>34772506> mappingSick hobby desuWhy’s the other job so much more appealing?Do you know about the GIS industry?
>>34772510Interesting hobby but that's kinda where it ends.I've tried looking into GIS but you need degrees for that and they don't really have any surveying type degrees in my country.Plus once you move up from just being a grunt worker actually surveying out in the field, it seems like you spend 90% of your time in the office just analysing stuff which is interesting in itself but I can't see myself spending most of my working days in an office. It seems like a super cool job in theory but when I look around the careers for it, doesn't seem that appealing anymoreThe other job is interesting because it's in aviation, it's a ground operations controller for a private jet company, it's the only company in this small airport to deal with but its constant with private jets coming in and out, theres some office work, but youre also on the ramp pulling out planes, inspections, directing jets, youre working on your own for the most part after training and I just love the feeling and being in the airport in general. Not too much progression in that company but they are looking for promotions within especially for cybersecurity for planes in the future which could be cool. Could expand to a bigger company in a bigger airport eventually if I go down that route but its true that the pay ceiling isn't that high once youre senior so I mean its not the end of the world, I know I'm not going to be rich and I can live on 32-35k for the time being.
