I'm a 29 year old virgin. Live on my own. I support myself and even help out my mom financially when needed. I am on good terms with her, and I love her. She is a good parent. My father died when I was very little, and our extended family are nice but not located close to us. Not sure how relevant this context is but here's the conversation we had this morning >checking in, asking her if she needed anything, making small talk about my work >mention woman coworker in passing >mom asks more about her>say she's new and that I haven't interacted with her outside work but she seems nice enough>mom says she seems cool>try to redirect conversation, fail>anon you can always bring home a girl anytime >uh, yeah. Thank you mom>you dont need to be shy you know>I know mom>she breaks down crying, suddenly >her words get garbled >try to reassure her and ask what's wrong >she hangs up >text her saying I hope she's okay, that i didn't mean to upset her and to reach out if she needs anything >no response I feel bad but I have no idea what to do next. She's clearly distraught but I think any clarifying information would make it worse.
>>34773283She cried because she realized that you are a faggot.
>>34773283Old people want grandparents. They won't get any. I have many siblings and i have a feeling that none of us are procreating.
>>34773283Gay, ace, or incel?
>>34773283gen x/boomer parents dont care to do anything to help you at any point but they get really upset when they feel like other people feel like they may have been failures for parents (because they probably were)
>>34773283I'm sorry your mom is too self-centered and makes you feel like shit despite the fact you're a self-sufficient, functioning, working human being, who actually bothers to call and keep contact with your parents, which is already better than a lot of people in this site.
I think it's cause she wants grandkids or some shit. Idk why boomers are like this.

Might as well just give it to her straight, clarifying information is the only way you'll resolve it whether that does end up meaning she'll just have to expect and accept zero grandkids.
>>34773283My mom does this all the time to me as well. My sister has a friend who she constantly implies or outright encourages me to get into a relationship with, even though I've spoken to her once. Somehow she always comes up in conversation, even though I try to dodge the topic. I've made it clear I don't want to get into a relationship but she won't give up.As to why your mother broke down, perhaps she feels like she failed you in some way and is guilty for you being single at 29. Or she realized she'll never have grandkids. Fortunately I haven't had to deal with a breakdown yet so I can't give any solid advice. All I can say is you did the right thing and you're not in the wrong.
>>34773283such a beautiful exhibit of the sociopathic and evil neurotypical modern female
I do this to my sister cause she's 5'11" and 30 years old, I don't understand who she thinks is going to take care of her when our 62+ year old parents die.Does she think I'll take care of her? I'll be doing other shit. Her roommate is in a wheelchair.
>>34780031are you larping at being a horrible person?
>>34781397>Noooo muh geneticsLeeches get the streets.
>>34781487Give her to me I will take one for the team.
>>34773283She's a proto-modern woman. Proto in the sense that she wants grandkids but modern in the sense that she did everything in her power to make sure nobody has any fun dating anyone except for her. She's crying because she's torn between the last vestiges of human soul left in her from a social order that wanted the species to continue, weak and rotten from a lack of air and light, and her actions being the reason she is suffering slowly growing into a weight so heavy it just may break into her conscious awareness and force her to experience accountability and undo her feminist programming. Whatever happens, just remember that empathy is in understanding someone, not in fixing them. True care is realizing some issues can't be fixed by anyone but who created them.
