Haven't been to these boards in 4ever but I need some help. I'm trying to create stories that appeal to young adults without pandering, where both leads have equal development and something interesting about them. Personally my politics are based in Conservative values, but I'm open to liberal ideas. I have a friend who reviews my work, who has values that kinda parallel my own, except I'm lacking a woman's touch. I haven't talked to another woman since October of last year, and I'm kind of afraid to honestly. Especially because I'm looking for advice from a woman who shares these goals, or at least one willing to work with guys that might share different opinions.To be frank, I'm looking for advice to develop my female character. Keeping her story grounded and slightly appealing to women. Both characters take inspiration from something, the male takes inspiration from Greek mythology and 90s action heroes, while I have been considering basing the female's inspiration off the original Mulan movie, and Kim Possible. So if you can't give any advice off that, at least some "recommended reading" or reference material I can look at based on your interests would be helpful.

I wanted her adventure to be inspired by the death of her father, having him killed for attempting to blow the whistle on some shady business. Though I might look into something else since that's very much like Batman. Any more advice? Either about back story, or just in general?

Why the need to be appealing to young people, just write what you want to convey
>>34775102Well it isn't completely about appealing to young people, I'm running into a couple roadblocks when it comes to this project. The male character has some pretty solid elements that I'm satisfied with I'm glad with, so I'm looking for direction to improve the female character. So I'm using the advice as direction, and because it's nice to consider your audience (though I don't plan on completely pandering either).
I will be pretty busy today, so I might reply late. All advice and suggestion still welcomed though.

>>34776345I understand ya, but I might have not explained myself great. It's not about making it for appeal, it's about needing a direction. The basic issue is that my male character has a solid arc, but overall works better as support since his growth is straight forward. I'm basically looking for advice to grow another half to the story since those are themes I wanna explore (some novice level ying and yang stuff).
