CMD opens and closes 3 times when I start my computer. I told my cyber security friend and he started to freak out before he caught himself and said it wasn't a big deal. Every time I've brought it up since, he dodges the question.I've done all of my banking/saved all my passwords on this computer for years. Am I boned?

I'm assuming you are running windows. If you know what time the windows popped up at, you can cross reference with the Event Viewer application built into your PC. There are various tabs like Application and Security under the Windows section that will show you any and all events that it has in its records. That way you can actually do some investigation to put your own mind at ease. Some cmd windows automatically run upon startup for certain applications, so it's not really possible to tell from your post whether they're coming from a normal program or from a virus. You can check your Services list to see if there is anything that stands out there in a bad way. The Services list shows you which programs automatically start up when you boot up as well, and you can toggle things on and off from there.I faced an issue similar to yours a while back. I would boot my PC, and then like 20 minutes into doing work, 3 cmd windows would pop up. Turned out to be Adobe Creative Suite starting up, just very very late to the party. I toggled it from Automatic startup to Manual startup and the cmd windows stopped showing up.
>>34774563Just do a good malware scan. Kaspersky, Eset or Bitdefender.
