My boss is a lazy, angry narcissist that doesn't really train us well or communicate to us new responsibilities so we don't know what to do most of the time and then he gets mad when we don't do things to his impossibly high standards. I've been dealing with this shit for 3 years and so I have a lot invested in this job but at the same time I'm miserable and want to leave. The plant manager likes me and wants me to stay and I like him so it's hard to leave him hanging by leaving, but at the same time I have to think about my health and happiness. Should I just start applying to new jobs while still working at my current job or just stay with my current job a few more years to see if it gets better?
>>34776937>Plant manager likes you but boss is so meanSo, what exactly do you do?Are you an Operating Engineer? You a forklift driver? You a factory monkey? Context is important.
>>34776937what is it that you do, pal?
>>34776964>You a factory monkey?Pretty much. I'm a technician though which means I'm more of an ape than a monkey >>34776968Just work at an automotive factory (it's hot in the summer)
>>34776937i think you already know the answer. look for a new job while working there. at least see what you can get offered. maybe it'll push your manager to move on too.you dont have much say in things getting better and it doesnt sound like any dominoes are set up that will make thing better in the future.you'll end up kicking yourself if you wait and whats been happening continues to happen.
>>34776937>I've been dealing with this shit for 3 yearsYou are a fucking moron, if true.
>>34777000Well they did offer to move me to a different area of the factory so I don't have to work for this guy anymore but I would still probably see him sometimes >>34777004Man's gotta eat
>>34776972So what you're saying is because something got under your skin from what your supervisor says, it's triggered your breaking point, despite working there for 3 years. You have to understand this economy is trash and people are currently clinging onto their dear lives for the positions they got, and any one mistake lands them to the Street. But if you had to pivot, you had all last year to do so. It's an aggressive job world out there, and if you feel underpaid and not respected, surely you know how to leverage yourself. If it's because you boinked your manager or whatever, then I guess stay.
>>34777018is seeing this guy gonna ruin your life like it already sounds like?i think you need to move on and you're coping pretty bad. just apply to some places and see what happens. worst that happens is you tell them no. stop living like this under this faggot.why're you torturing yourself like this?
>>34777029>You have to understand this economy is trashI'm still young and dumb and do not understand this. I don't know anything other than I'm getting close to my breaking point and either I need to change myself or my job >>34777048>why're you torturing yourself like this?I think deep down I don't like myself because I have emotional issues and don't know how to deal with them so on some level I think I deserve this probably
>>34777058just apply to other jobs and see what you get. people are offering advice and you're finding ways to reject the suggestions.i know it seems like you're into bdsm but im a man and its making me uncomfortable seeing you torture yourself like this in front of me.
>>34777018>Man's gotta eatGet a better fucking boss, shit-for-brains.
>>34777074Yeah I'm not really a good person but I try. I applied to one other factory a week ago but no response. I'll just keep applying and seeing what happens I guess>>34777077In this economy?
>>34777082>In this economy? In every economy. You have a limited time on this earth and you are choosing to spend it in suffering.
>>34777136I know but I'm still young and figuring out what to do and since I didn't have a father figure it's probably going to take me a little longer than it should. Surely I can find a new job with a better boss but I want to do the right thing by my current employer and maybe there is no right way to leave a job but I guess I'll learn that the hard way too
>>34777155you're making excuses. are you sure you even enjoy your career field? you may want to look into a different career to work in. it sounds like more is going on in the background than you're letting on.there's no right way to leave a job. you're providing them a service and they're making bank off it. sure don't just do an office space and not show up, but you don't owe them a farewell tour. people look for other jobs especially if conditions are shitty. you're short changing yourself. who in that business is gonna even back you up?you have to look at yourself as something more important. you're worth something and if they ain't gonna treat you right, you can take it away and argue for a better position elsewhere.
>>34777175>it sounds like more is going on in the background than you're letting onWell besides the boss I just really don't enjoy dealing with people all day and that's also making me very unhappy. I don't know what career field I would get into because they say if you do what you love for work then you grow to hate what you love. I'm happy just being a factory drone as long as people just leave me alone to do the damn work
>>34777194is there a position in your job without dealing with people?if not look at other alternatives. just google careers in demand. there's plenty. everything has pros and cons. maritime you may only work 6 months out of the year but thats 6 months away from friends and family and society.i'd look around, especially if you are young. there's plenty in demand and they're not all going to break your body into rubble.
>>34777228>is there a position in your job without dealing with people? Our shipping and receiving department is like that but the plant manager only moves people around 1-2 times per year so it could be months before I can get in there. I think I can tough it out until then though if I decide to stay. >just google careers in demandI've thought about something in the medical field because that's always in demand and it's somewhat interesting. I was thinking about learning medical billing and then working my way up to coding. Might even get lucky and be able to WFH. That would make me so happy
>>34777237once again you have your own answers. start looking into it now. your current career isn't your career field of choice. you're still young so try on a new coat, and try to get a job there.there's a lot of fat retarded boomers out there to take care of so you'll be in good hands.
>>34777251I'll look into it. Just want to really think about this before I get emotional and do something I regret
>>34777259there's no harm in applying to places. plus what is there to regret? if you have anyone close to you then talk about it with them so you can feel it out and get more feedback.but you literally just said finding something that you could work from home would make you so happy.it seems like what you're in now isnt where you're gonna be in 3 years from now no matter what.good luck
>>34777272>if you have anyone close to you then talk about it with them so you can feel it out and get more feedbackI've talked about this with my mom and she supports me leaving my job. I actually put in my 2 weeks notice last week but they told me I was a good worker and they want to find a way for me to stay and be happy. I was just seeing how things go this week and it only took 2 days for my boss to get uncomfortable and be an asshole again so yeah I'm thinking fuck this shit
>>34777279boss aint gonna change. their life probably sucks. apply to medical and see what you can get. even if you stay you can mention you're applying elsewhere and they might give you more benefits or move the boss. who knows. just stay in the driver seat.
>>34777338I will try. One day at a time. Thanks for the advice man
>>34776937I am sure if you have much invested, the boss has more. You are on the same team, and can communicate that better while shitfaced. You must understand the overall vision and then there will be no conflict. Your work is important as any other, if not more.
>>34778112>You must understand the overall visionI understand the vision and respect that he has high standards, but it's not right to push someone down and tell them to get up. When someone on your team is down, you give them a hand - you don't get angry at them for not pulling their own weight and tell them to figure your shit out and leave me alone. I just need a little help is all. Just a little
>>34776937Actively but subtly sabotage your boss and keep a paper trail of his fuck ups, so you can get him removed from the company. It's how you play the game well. Alternatively the CIA released a book on how to sabotage your company while pretending to be a retard. Just do that lol
>>34778139Well shoot. That requires me to look at myself now.
>>34776937I wouldn't give a fuck I'd just do random shit
>>34777004If you complain about wanting to quit because of coworkers to anyone in real life they will tell you to man up and stop being sensitive and let yourself be some old angry faggots bitch because quitting is for pussies.
>>34776937Change the job.Thats literaly it. My last boss was a women which was altight, but in a span of 1y 2 male coworkers left becuase she gave them shit for stupidest things. From team of 8 the only males that were left was me and some duchebag that had higher position. Guess what? She started to get on my shit next and I just quited 4 months later, because its just not worth your nerves and mental health.I confronted her that shes a bad manger that runs the team via conflict and escalates arguments on daily basis, people threat to interact with her at times and she pick on male workers while protecting the female ones. She didnt had any arguments, didnt offer any apology/promise of change and we just part our ways.Seriously, people should be more proactive and dont tolerate bullshit managment from bad coworkers. The World would be better for all.
>>34776937>My boss is a lazy, angry narcissist that doesn't really train us well or communicate to us new responsibilities so we don't know what to do most of the time and then he gets mad when we don't do things to his impossibly high standards. So, I had a narcisstic, abusive Indian Muslim manager. He literally drove me insane and I ended up going insane for it, took disability and everything, and it carried over into my next job. Eventually after a year of therapy I managed to get over it. I realized he was a retarded pajeet who was incompetent and a dumb diversity hire. I also realized that most managers are clueless retards. If they were competent they would be directors and executives. All middle managers literally go through an attention cycle that lasts from 4 days to two weeks.>I've been dealing with this shit for 3 years and so I have a lot invested in this job but at the same time I'm miserable and want to leave. The plant manager likes me and wants me to stay and I like him so it's hard to leave him hanging by leaving, but at the same time I have to think about my health and happiness. And that's the dumb as shit thinking that keeps you from achieving happiness. I would bet my lunch if you left and had another job magically lined up Monday and you walked in your first day you would feel better. Look, here's a reality you need to sink in:All work is transactional. That's it. It's a transaction between parties. You show up and give time and talent for money. You are not there to make friends or find love. You are there to make money to go pay bills and live your life. If it stops working or the conditions are shit you leave. You don't sit and wait, you don't try and be a harbinger of change. You just find another position and leave. You never stay because you like somebody there. In the job world it's all about you, because I guarantee if your work buddy got tossed into a room and HR threatened their job they'd lie about you to save themselves.
>>34777058What the fuck is there not to understand? Read a newspaper article about the K Shaped Economy. Right now businesses are reporting record valuations and profit, but the average joe is getting fucked in the ass because the profits the business are getting are also being inflated due to workplace layoffs and staffing cuts. AI is letting companies cut employees.>>34777048Well, you don't deserve to be treated like a slave or a prisoner for showing up, working hard, and doing your best and being a productive member of society, which you are. You are at least that. Take stock in that. Don't ever let somebody abuse you. Avoid miserable people and the unlucky, they are like a disease that can infect you.
>>34784556why are you talking to me like this? no one's abusing me i swears
