raise kids. it gives you a magic gift in making you more empathetic in seeing your life in anothers shoes. people that dont take care of anothers life like this for a while are stuck seeing themselves as the center of their own universe.

Master a skill. Do something you're proud of. Doesn't really matter what. If your thing is doing pixel art with rubick's cube, but you do it masterfully enough, that's valid. Not even for posterity, just do it for yourself.

Get close with someone. Not necessarily romantically, but close enough that you could describe them and their actions to the point where you could diagnose them psychologically and/or write a good amount of their biography. The reverse is less important, IMHO. Being know isn't as interesting as knowing others.

But do know yourself. To the extent where you know your flaws and weaknesses enough to know how to destroy yourself. And with some luck, how to compensate for them or exploit them to make yourself reach your goals. For instance, knowing you're bad with setting your own deadlines and literally asking friends to set deadlines for you.

And I don't agree with the people who tell you to have kids. If you have any empathy, you can consider that their life will suck, they will suffer in a weak flesh prison for maybe eighty years before inevitably dying and it will all be because you decided to have them. And that's before even considering the state of the world.

If you want to learn empathy, just do that. Don't inflict a litteral life of pain and hunger on a human for your own learning.

i disagree about kids though - i think that's a deeply personal thing that everyone gotta figure out for themselves. like yeah, you "inflict life" on someone by creating them, but you also give the chance for them to experience a rich and meaningful life themselves. besides, you can adopt or some shit, there's plenty of kids that have already been made that a willing parent could give a good life to.

It doesn’t matter. Whatever’s clever.
