when i was younger i could put myself into uncomfortable situations for social reasons but now im completely burned out and cant even bother, all i do is expect the worst and ruminate on negative shit. i used to brute force socializing but was never any good at it and would get mocked/punished for trying, and never really felt great from doing it, or a desire to reach out. am i fucked? i think i have genuine autism and its not getting any easier. i'm young and already lamenting my missed youth before it happens.
Exploration then exploitation. Socialising is necessary for goals like reproducing so you will do it incidentally anyway, if that can be called brute force. It's like when ppl say physical exercise, you can't do absolutely none since there is incidental exercise. Idk so just keep doing it cuz you'll probably be doing it sooner or later, better now than later when you're more shrivelled

>>34777859I think there is nothing wrong with refusing to put up with people's crap in social situations. If you're around people who are mocking you you don't need that. Some people do that as a banter, but if they keep doing it after you've made it clear that it's not cool. (with a calm response, don't yell like a sperg.) then you may not want to be around those people. Point being, don't hang around jerks, find better people.Sometimes a situation makes you uncomfortable but you actually get something you want by going through it and then the thing that made you uncomfortable no longer does. I used to not like going out in groups. Sometimes I still don't. But I'm glad I did for a couple years. I used to only go to group settings with a friend, but I did start going out on my own for a bit and I had fun. I went to a board game night with strangers as a gaming store for 2 years. Became kind of friends with some of them. I just hated small talk and socializing when I didn't have much to say about my life when people ask the usual small talk probing questions. But with a game in between me and the people, I didn't have to deal with that as much.Sometime discomfort brings growth, but other times there are just people who you'll never want to deal with and once you realize it's like that, stop being around those people if you can help it.
>>34777859All that is fine as is but don’t be negative. It’s all the exact same but you’re enjoying it less.
